Aaron R. Robbins III, 68, of China Spring went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Allen Grant officiating. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Friday, at the I.O.O. F. Cemetery in Georgetown. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. A.R. was born July 30, 1941, in Taylor to loving parents, Aaron R. and Mable Fredrickson Robbins. He graduated from Georgetown High School in 1959 and attended Southwest Texas State University earning a BS in 1965. On November 5, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Roylene Homeyer in Georgetown. Together, they made their home in Hillsboro, TX, for 34 years until moving to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He worked for the USDA Farm Service Agency for 34 years retiring in 1999. A.R. was an Army Reserve for 7 years and received his officer commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was very active in his community and volunteered his many talents to several organizations. A.R. was especially fond of helping with those organizations that benefited the youth including the Hill County Fair. He was a member of the Rotary Club, the Airport Advisory Board and the Planning and Zoning Committee, all of Hillsboro. He also was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for Hill County for over 20 years. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. After retiring, he worked part-time for Air Impressions, Inc. A.R. and Roylene had two daughters, Stacey and Tricia, of whom he was very proud. Since the time he was a very young boy, A.R. was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish. A.R. always had stories to share about his latest adventures. He especially prized the hunting and fishing trips he shared with his family. He cherished his trip to Colorado with his son-in-law, Jeff. A.R. was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Roylene; two daughters, Stacey McClure and husband, Don, of Austin and Tricia Garrett and husband, Jeff of China Spring; three grandchildren, Jessica Garrett, Matthew Garrett and McKinsey McClure; two sisters, Pat Koym of Georgetown and Janie Burson and husband, Richard, of Georgetown; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law and loved ones. The family wishes to express its appreciation to the wonderful nurses with Providence Hospice. Memorials may be made to the China Spring United Methodist Church or Providence

Condolences for the family of “A. R. Robbins”
My Cousin AR Robbins, AR was such a great big Cousin to me, since I was the youngest cousin of this bunch. He always had a smile, and you can bet that Aunt Mable had a smile on her face. She loved her Baby Boy so much. Their was nothing that AR could not do for her. The story I remeber the most was one of the Reunion, i think AR, and my brother Allen were frying Fish, and Uncle JW was getting on to AR and Allen. I think he was mumbly under his breath, because he did not think that AR and Allen could handle frying the fish. It was too funny, and poor AR was so hot frying that Catfish. This was a yearly thing seeing everyone at the Reunion. I loved AR, and his family, and I will truly miss him.
Roylene, Stacey and Tricia you are in our hearts and prayers. Especially want to Thank You for sharing him with the Hill County Sheriff’s Office and for the many hours he spent serving his community as a Deputy Sheriff. He served with honor and courage and was very valuable to me as an Officer and a friend.
Stacey, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I know this has been a difficult process and I hope all you can find comfort and peace in the days ahead.

So sorry for your loss. AR was such a nice person. I have very fond memories of him. I know my mom will miss her cousin so much. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

A.R. was a great cousin and even greater friend as we roamed the woods, fished and swam in the San Gabriel, attended and studied Ag. at SWT. Karen and I enjoyed spending time with AR and Roylene cooking steaks at their apartment in San Marsos and later exchanging brags about our kids and grandkids. What great memories we have! Roylene, Karen and I mourn this great loss for you and your family as well as for ourselves.

I worked with A.R. for more than ten years as a part-time employee. He was much more than a great supervisor…he was a great friend. We had lots of fun conversations and I enjoyed being with him and watching his "girls" grow to adulthood, along with our children. God bless his family and his memory.

Roylene and girls, it is hard to say how sad I am that AR is gone. He was such a funny and wonderful person. I will miss his visits to Austin and I know mom & John will miss him coming to coast to see them.

Roylene, we are saddened by A.R.’s loss but the memories I have of him will all ways put a smile on my face. I know of no one who loved the outdoors and his family as he did. I knew him as a good man. May the Lord bless you and your family and may you find joy in his memories.

A.R. and I had some exciting times together fighting crime, especially when we travelled with Sheriff Button to New Mexico back in ’87. He’ll be missed by a lot of people. May God comfort his family in their loss.

A. R. worked with us as a CED at the USDA Farm Service Agency. After talking with the 5 women that work here, A.R. hired every one of us through the years. We will miss him.
I am praying for all of you, praying that God will comfort you at this time. A.R. was always a joy to be around, always had a smile on his face and was a wonderful husband and father. You were all blessed to have him in your life.
Please know that you continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
A.R. was a great asset to Hillsboro and Hill County. I enjoyed my association with him in the Rotary Club, and USDA. He was a positive influence in our community, and his contributions will live on. Our love and prayers to Roylene and the girls.

As the youngest grandchild I never got to know him that well but I miss him terribley and ever since the sucide incident at my middle school I miss him even more
