Gloria Ables, known by many simply as Grandma Gloria, was born on September 27, 1945 to Juan and Consuelo (Huerta) Rodriguez in Waco, Tx. Grandma Gloria was a kind spirit who had many interests, which included cooking her signature dishes for her grandchildren, never missing an episode of Dr. Pol, playing bingo, and spending time with her church family at Park Lake. She also loved spending time with all her grandchildren and enjoyed taking them on many trips alongside her husband “PawPaw Terry. Even in her last days, she spent time with her great- grandchildren Rai, Punkin, Amya and Trinity playing dress up and putting on makeup. She also loved dancing and had a deep love for music that passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Grandma Gloria spent over 30 years working at Time Warner Cable as a dispatcher and then to supervisor. Our hope is that Grandma Gloria knew she left this world extremely loved. Our family will forever remember the strong, loving, caring and fun-loving woman she was in all our lives. Who she was, will live on in all our family and we will live our lives to honor her every day.

Condolence from Serena Guardiola on March 13th, 2023 5:26 pm

Grandma in the time you were here I couldn’t put all the words and thoughts together to express how much I love you, but when I see you again I hope to tell you all of this. You were my first friend, my first best friend. You showed me how unconditional your love was not only for me but for your family. I would never trade all the time I had with you for anything in the world, all the tortilla making, butter eating, Home&Family episodes, nibbling on our ears, talking trash about Minnie Mouse and how she didn’t deserve Mickey or your silly songs you used to sing. So many little things remind me of you and it does hurt to know you’re no longer here but I’m thankful for the hurt because I know I got the chance to love someone so much. Although I wish you would’ve stuck around a little longer I know God is happy to have you back home with him in paradise. I’m confident I’ll see you again one day and we’ll catch up in heaven about all you missed here on earth. I love you grandma and I can’t wait to see you again.

Condolence from Rey Guardiola on March 15th, 2023 8:23 pm

I am thankful that my mom meant so much to everyone. From hearing the special memories shared by Alyssa and Serena at her memorial to seeing the numerous people showing up to say
their final goodbyes. It was truly a blessing to see how much she meant to everyone.
My mom brought laughter in our lives with her nicknames for us like Coneja, Pot tail, Z pac and
one she had for me that I better not share on this post. She brought half smiles to her grandchildren’s faces with her singing not because they enjoyed it but because they had to act like they did. She would cook a delicious dinner for us but would never join us to eat it cause she didn’t like her own cooking. We’ll miss her lemon meringue pies that were never completely ready cause we would always eat them before they were done.
What I’ll miss most is the life she brought into our home. The smell of homemade tortillas when she knew we were trying to go on a diet, the TV on 24 hours a day, her yelling at the TV while watching all her shows, her crying when people would leave the house but quickly changing moods once they stepped out of the front door. All these little things were my mom and what made our home so beautiful.
I know God calls each of us home but this one does hurt Lord. I give thanks to God for giving us the time he did with her and showing us the correct path forward for our entire family. Till we see each other again and I hear you say “Oh Gahlee” I love you and will never forget you.
