George Lee Brinegar went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 30, 2022.
Visitation: Friday, June 10, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lake Shore Funeral Home

Born Aug 29, 1935, in his short 86 years on this earth he was proud to tell others he was just an “East Waco Boy.” As a native Wacoan, he often boasted about his experience as a Waco High Tiger. After graduating high school in 1954 he then attended John Tarleton College before entering the US Army. He spent the majority of his early active duty at Ft Carson, CO. His love of the Army was first seen as the 9th Infantry Soldier of the Month in Aug 1958. He left Active Duty as a Sergeant in 1959 to marry a Colorado girl, Vinnia Lou Eagle, and persuaded her to come to his hometown.
He and Lou started a family that would grow and multiply many times over. Their son, George Allen, and daughter, Terri Leigh, were born in the early 1960s. At this same time George began a long tenure with First National Bank, culminating as Vice President. In 1969 he graduated from SMU’s School of Banking, which was an amazing accomplishment with a family and full-time position. His love of the Army and service to his country were always present. As a proud member of the Army Reserves he completed over 30 years’ service and achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, W3. He deployed to Desert Storm in 1990 jokingly telling others that he went as the “Old Man” to keep the “youngsters’ straight.”
George’s gregarious and friendly nature made him a friend to many. As a Mason and Shriner, he and Lou were always active and serving in many capacities, to include the Karem Shrine Potentate in 1996. They were antique car enthusiasts too, never missing a car show or Old Car Club meeting. George and Lou found joy in being together, spending time with family, and friends. George and Lou were always working together on projects around their country home, volunteering at local events like the Heart of Texas Fair, or traveling together to experience the world around them. Their 62 years of marriage went by too quickly. Over the years their home was open to many friends and family. Chalk Bluff was their home church where they worshiped for many years and had many friends.
He is preceded in death by the “love of his life” Lou of Mosca, CO; father, George Paul and mother Maidelee Brinegar; grandparents, George Pinkney and Mamie; all of which were Wacoans.
George Lee is survived by two children; George Allen and Terri Leigh both married to wonderful people (Christine and Jon) who also called him Dad. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jeremy Searles married to Amelia of Austin, Tifani McGovern married to Brian of McGuire AFB, NJ, Jared Searles of Waco, Ashley Brinegar of Denver, and Jackie Norris married to Michael living in GA. He has one great grandson Logan McGovern. To all of these he was affectionately and respectfully known as “Pops”.
The family would like to thank all those who helped care for an East Waco boy: Heartis Waco Assisted Living, Right at Home in home care, Kindred Hospice and Parkview Baptist Church. A special thank you to Uni Murphy at Lake Ridge Healthy Living.

Uncle George was an amazing guy. I relished the moments I got to hang out with him, though they were far between. He had a greet big personality about the size of Texas and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a man of his country and community and loved his family with all his heart and wasn’t shy about showing it. In fact, he wasn’t very shy about much. I looked up to him as great role model in my life. Our beautiful Aunt Lou and he were inseparable. Thinking of them now together makes my heart say all is right. God bless the Brinegar family with extra comfort during this time of loss. George, Terri, & Fam.

George and Lou were two amazing people. James and I married during a Shrine convention and they brought our wedding cake from Waco so we could celebrate our union. My mother worked at the bank with George and through the years stayed in touch. I will never forget the kindness showed to mother as George and Lou would visit with her at Regent Care Nursing Home. May you and yours find comfort knowing they are with our Lord.

I met Mr. Brinegar at Heartis, my dad was there also and they always sat together for meals. Mr. Brinegar was always quick to speak and say “Hello” and we would exchange greetings and he would have a smile and some type of conversation. It was a pleasure to have had the privilege to meet him. He was a Masonic brother and I did not know that until just now, we have lost a fine man.
Thank you Kent for remembering Dad. We will miss him.
But we believe he has been healed and at peace for eternity.

George & Lou were 2 of the finest people I have ever met. Would not hesitate to help anyone in need and always in a jovial mood. George loved his classic cars & would see both of them at many car shows. My sincere condolences to the family. Heaven is just a little brighter with the addition of George & Lou.

I loved George and Lou. Both were exceptional humans with exceptional God-given gifts which they showed to all people. My sympathies go out to all of your family members.
