Willie Vaughn Baines, 75, of Waco, went to be with his Savior Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at a local care facility with his family surrounding him with love. A memorial service in his honor will be held 2pm, Saturday, August 3rd, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend Drive, Waco. A reception will follow the service at 1924 Mahalia Drive, Waco, 76705.

Willie Vaughn Baines was born to the parentage of Mr. and Mrs. Lemon Baines in Fulton, KY on November 28, 1937. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, TN in 1955. Soon after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force. While serving in the military, he met, and later married, Miss Lovie Willis. "Baines" was a master comedian, fashion stylist, a life professor, a financier, and an extraordinary man. He was also quiet and reserved, but his character and presence spoke volumes of their own. His joking spirit, stylish ways, love, and compassion will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Baines; and brother, Louis Baines.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mrs. Lovie Baines, with whom he leaves his precious memories; three daughters, Sabrina Whiteside of Red Oak, Cathy Middleton and husband Jimmy of Waco, Bridgette Peay and husband Christian of Allen; two brothers, Gene Baines of Chicago, IL, and Lemon Baines and wife Theresa of Aurora, CO; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other special family members and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, as they have helped increase our faith. Your kind words have encouraged our hearts. Your presence has helped us to maintain our strength.

Special thanks to Catherine Ransom, Gregory "Pig" Ransom, Bluebonnett Hospice Staff, and Lakeshore Village Health Center.

  5. My Daddy! MyDaddy! Wow I’m gonna really miss him. There will never be another man as great as he was, he loved his family and his family loved him,he taught his girls how to be independent and to go after our dreams. He was a great provider , protector and a friend. He was a great husband to our mother she didn’t want for nothing as well as his girls. I will miss all the jokes and pranks he told and did which if you knew him they were some "lies" but he would say they wasn’t. It was so hard for me to accept his illness and to see him go through it but as the days go by I realized that he won’t have to suffer anymore and that he is in a better place on the other side. May he rest in peace until we meet again. Cathy aka Duckie, or Sister Duck as he would call me!!!!!
