William E. (Bill) Escolante, 83, of Robinson, formerly of Del Rio, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at his residence. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

Bill retired from the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean Conflict and received the Purple Heart of Valor. Bill was also a lifetime member of VFW Post #2148.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Escolante and Mary (Kearns) Escolante; one brother; and one sister.

Survivors include wife of 32 years, Caroline Escolante of Robinson; son, William Escolante, Jr. of Robinson; step-sons, William Beamesderfer of PA, and Salvatore Pesta and wife Phylis of San Antonio; step-daughters, Corrine Davis, and Brenda Seiders, both of PA; and several grandchildren.

    Bill will be missed. He was loved and respected by many. I met him when he was my mother’s boyfriend in 1961. A father, a brother in service to our country. Bill was an Infantryman in the 17th Infantry Regiment during the Korean Conflict. He earned, among other awards, the Cobat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart. He has been memorialized at the Purple Heart Monument in San Antonio, TX, and Del Rio, TX (which will be dedicated on March 4th, 2011.
