Wilburn H. Lessman, 84, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, August 26th at a local hospital.

Funeral services: 2 PM Friday, August 29, 2014, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin Thompson officiating.

Visitation: 5 to 7 PM Thursday, August 28th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.

Wilburn was born January 30, 1930 in Falls County to Henry and Meline (Schreiber) Lessman. He owned and operated Lessman’s Grocery and Market and B & W Auto Sales. Wilburn was passionate in serving countless hours in law enforcement volunteer work, as well as other volunteer organizations.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Jean Lessman.

Survivors include his children, Debby Stewman, Judy Heickman and husband Tom and Neil Lessman and wife Gaila; grandchildren, Marshall Stewman, Will and Austin Glover, Madison Heickman, Josh, Jeremy, and Justin (Bumper) Lessman; great grandchildren, Leighton and Lyra Stewman, Zayne, Jacob, Wyatt, Ryder, Kenzie and Tucker Lessman, and Deztanie and Joseph Hellsten; sisters, Gracie Weiting and husband Nelson and Minnie Lou Owen; and special friend, Bettie Lou Porter.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorials should be made to the charity of your choice.

Wilburn treasured all of his friends.

  1. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. I am in Michigan and will not be able to attend Wilburn’s services.

  2. It was an honor serving with Wilburn in the Waco Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. He will be missed by all of his friends and associates.

  5. I am so sorry to read about the loss this morning. I haven’t seen Wilburn since Ellen Jo’s funeral. Wilburn has been a good friend to me throughout my life and I will miss him dearly. Stacy’s and my thoughts are with you all during this time of both mourning and celebration. Wilburn has gone home to be with our Lord and we will see him again. Unfortunately neither Stacy nor I will be able to attend the services on Friday or Visitation on Thursday because we are out of town at a seminar.
