Wilburn C. Easley, U. S. Air Force Warrant Officer, Retired, 90, of Waco, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008 at a local hospital. Military graveside services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, December 24th at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart with Rev. Clinton Bratcher officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Tuesday, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

Wilburn was born July 27, 1918 in Elkhart to Robert McLellan and Etta Viola (Warren) Easley. He joined the U.S. Air Force at an early age. While in the military, he married his long time sweetheart, Bernice Steadman on February 28, 1942 in Houston. After retirement from the Air force, they moved back to Texas where Wilburn was employed by Allied Fence Co. for 23 years.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bernice O. Easley of Waco; son, Paul Easley and wife, Elizabeth of St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada; daughter, Myra Dickey and husband, John of Waco; grandchildren, John (Chris) Dickey and wife Jane, Paula Brown, Benjamin Easley and Brittany Easley; great grandchildren, Brianne Wilson and Jase Brown; brother, John Easley; sisters, Robbie Kate Grimsley and Marietta Sadler; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Lake Shore United Methodist Church or The Gideons International.

What a great man Bill Easley was. His love for Bernice was always evident. I always called him Brother Bill and he called me Brother Bob. He will be greatly missed. We are better people for having know Bill and Bernice Easley.

To the Easley family,
I am a Waco Police Officer who responded to the Easley house that day. I never met Mr. Easley but I can tell from his obit that he is someone I wish I had met. My sincerest condolences.

Dear Aunt Bernice,
I am so sad to hear about Uncle Wilburn passing. Some of my fondest memories when growing up, were of when Uncle Wilburn, Granny Cleo, Mother,and you were talking about "the good old days".
I am sure the three of them are catching up on things now.
