Watie Center, 73, of Gholson, passed away Sunday, November 3rd, 2013. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3pm, Thursday, November 7, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel, 5201 Steinbeck Bend Dr, Waco. Watie was born February 15, 1940 to Council and Callie Marie (Bellamy) Center in the rural area of Bunch, OK. He bravely served his country in the United States Army as a sharp shooter for 3 years after graduating high school. After leaving the army, Watie spent many years working on the Natural Gas pipeline as a welder, which took him all over the continental United States, including Alaska, and as far away as Saudi Arabia. His work later took him to Ecuador and South America, where he worked as the Chief Welding Inspector/ Technician for Texaco, where he soon met the love of his life Janeth Merchan. They were married on May 14th, 1980. After returning to the states, he started his own trucking company as a self-employed owner/operator, until his retirement. Watie was a member of the 798 Welder
