Wanda Jean Knutson

Wanda Jean Knutson, 61, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

Visitation:  6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 21 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, in Waco.

A Celebration Life: 1:00 PM, Friday, February 22 at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Wanda was born September 18, 1957, in Lubbock, TX, to Zaccarias and Maria Pena.

Wanda enjoyed spending time in the kitchen and passing down family recipes. She used her green thumbs to have a patio and backyard filled with beautiful plants. She loved spending time with family, whether it be fishing, movies or going to the beach. She enjoyed using her artistic talent to make people smile by giving most of her pieces away. Multiple times a year, she traveled with Co-Partners for Christ, to Mexico and Honduras. When she wasn’t in the kitchen, outside, spending time with family, crafting, or traveling (as you can tell she lived her life to the fullest) she was telling everyone she met, strangers and friends alike, about the love of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zaccarias and Marìa Peña.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband, Larry; daughter, Lesly and husband, Brandon Yerger; son, John and wife, Crystal Knutson; grandchildren that were her pride and joy, Bella, Tres, Titus, Bennett, Charlie, Ezra, Bracy and Deuce; sister, Janie Pena Hernandez, of Lubbock, TX; brothers, Sacarias Pena, Jr., of Lubbock, TX, Rafael and wife, Rebeca Pena, of Round Rock, TX, Joe Pena, of Lubbock, TX, Carlos Pena, of Lubbock, TX, and T.O. and wife, Erma Pena, of Crosbyton, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wanda’s honor to Co-Partners for Christ, 4900 Sanger Ave, Waco, TX 76710 or at http://www.copartnersforchrist.com

  9. Wanda was such a joy to be around. No matter where we went, she never met a stranger and she always told them of the love of God. I will miss my wacky Wanda from Waco. Even in her suffering, she always praised God. I love and miss my friend but I am thankful to be a part of her family.

  10. May our condolences bring you comfort and may our prayers ease the pain of this loss. We did not know Mrs. Wanda personally but we hold Ami very dear. Prayers for this beautiful family.

  11. Dear Larry, Lesly, John and Family, My heart is with you. Wanda was a ball of energy when we taught together at Connally. I could always count on her to give me a helping hand, assist a student or just make me laugh. I can still see her “dancing” down the halls of the school. She entertained me constantly. Wanda always had a smile and freely gave it to everyone. She wanted everyone to be happy. She loved everyone, especially you, her family. My prayers are with you all.

  12. My heart is with her family during this time. Wanda was an amazing woman and I doubt I will find a smile like hers again in the rest of my life. I am so blessed to have known her as a friend and my thoughts and prayers are with her incredible family. This lady showed me time and time again just how you are supposed to worship our God. Missing her.

  13. Larry, Lesly and Jon, I can never tell ya’ll how much I enjoyed teaching Scottish Rites with Wanda those years at Connally, she was a good friend and a special person, I know she will be missed. I’m keeping each of you in my prayers.
