Leo

Walter Leo Glaze, 83, of Elm Mott, passed away Monday, September 12, 2022 at his residence.

Visitation: 5 to 7PM Thursday, September 15 at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Graveside Service: 10AM Friday, September 16 at Gerald Cemetery, near Leroy.

Leo was born May 11, 1939 in Waco. He was a 1957 graduate of Connally High School and grew up in Lacy-Lakeview. In 1958, Leo married his high school sweetheart, Virginia “Ginny” Schutza. After their union they settled in Elm Mott to begin the journey of raising a family. Leo began working at Owens-Illinois; retiring in 1995 after 38 years of employment.

Leo loved nothing more than being a father and a papa. Leo was involved in many activities including coaching little league baseball and softball, member of the Waco Bass Club and Waco Father and son Bass Cub, and riding horses on the Cedar Brake trail rides. Leo enjoyed riding Harleys with his brother Harry on an open road with Harry always leading. He loved nature, especially spending time in the woods with family and hunting together.  After retirement, Leo purchased an RV and for the next 5 summers with his co-captain (granddaughter) by his side they visited 49 states (having to leave Hawaii out of the travels). Leo loved his family with all his heart and soul and would do anything for anyone.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ima June (Wortham) Glaze; wife of 38 years, Virginia (Schutza) Glaze; and brother, Harry Asquith.

Survivors include son, Darren Glaze; daughter, Paula Glaze; grandchildren, Amber Glaze-Mosley, Dustin Glaze, Tyler Glaze, Virginia Berger, and Brittany Berger; and seven great grandchildren (and one on the way).

Leo was fun, funny, joke teller, and he had a funny sarcastic side to him. All that knew Leo Glaze can honestly say he will be truly missed, loved, and was a blessing to have in our lives.

Place of Service: Gerald Cemetery , 3782Bode Rd.; Elm Mott, TX 76640
