Vlasta Helen Divis Sims, 95, died after a brief stay in the hospital, February 22, 2017.

Memorial Graveside Service: Seaton Cemetery, March 18 at 1:00 p.m.

She was born November 20, 1921 in Red Ranger, TX to Emil and Roslie Lesikar Divis. She attended school in Red Ranger. Vlasta moved to Ft Worth, during World War II to work in a military aircraft plant. She was diligent in her work and was proud to serve her country. After the War she worked at the Singer Sewing Center and J. C. Penney in Temple.

She married Joe W. Sims of Moody on July 12, 1961. Vlasta and Joe were avid gardeners and spent much of their time working in their garden. Joe was a fisherman and Vlasta was a great cook. They lived happily together in Moody until Joe’s death in 1981. While living in Moody she was a personal seamstress to many families.

Vlasta is preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Emil Divis Jr, Joseph Divis, Jerry Divis, John Divis, George Divis, and her twin, Lumerik Divis. She was also preceded in death by three sister, Rosie Divis Berka, Livie Divis Motl, and Alba Divis Rychlik.

Vlasta is survived by two step-sons, Joe D. Sims and wife Jean of Galena Park, TX and Jerry W. Sims and wife Phyllis of Waco; four grand-children: Marie Sims Hunt and husband Rob of Missouri City, TX, Joe D Sims, Jr. of Pasadena, TX, Adam W. Sims and wife Mary of Hewitt, and Jacklyn Sims Lackey and husband Chris of Belton; three great-grandsons: Justin, Cameron and Luke. Also left to cherish her memory is a sisters in law, Ruby Divis of Belton; nieces, Marie Berka Parker of Raleigh, NC, Dorothy Berka of Jewitt, Helen Berka of Houston, Virginia (Babe) Motl Jones of Beaverton, OR, Gwendolyn Motl Cunningham of College Station, Glendolyn Motl Stepan of Bastrop, Jerry Ann Divis Hughes of Belton, Anna Rose Divis Reid of Loop, Cheryl Divis Marsh of Flagler Beach, FL, and Janice Divis Paine of Temple. Nephews, Ladis Motl Jr of Euless, Darryl Divis of Temple, and Kevin Divis of Austin, plus 3 generations of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
