On Saturday March 16, 2013 our Heavenly Father called home our sweet mother and grandmother, Ventura Martinez. Mass of Christian burial will be 10AM Thursday, March 21st at St. Francis Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 6PM Wednesday, March 20th with the Rosary being recited at 7PM, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

In life she enjoyed spending time with her family. She always made sure her family had fresh tortillas for every meal. She enjoyed having a party for her birthday every year because all of her loved ones were together. She loved to listen to music especially mariachis. Her favorite thing to do on Sundays was to attend mass at St. Francis and then have lunch at El Charro with her daughter Nora. She was a precious lady with a sweet soul. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years, Frutoso Martinez; and sons, Serapio Martinez and Pete Martinez.

Survivors include daughters, Teresa Sanchez of Austin, Leonarda Martinez and Ricky Smith of Waco, Sandra LaManna of San Diego, CA, and Pauline Gonzales and husband Gilbert of Waco; son, Gilbert Martinez of Waco; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Pete Garcia of Ft. Worth; and sisters, Dora Hinojosa, Inez Banda, Josie Webster, Julie Cruz, Mary Garcia, Rachel Garcia, all of Ft. Worth, and Pauline Gonzales of Houston.

The family would like to thank the doctors, sweet nurses and staff at Providence Hospital for all of the care support they provided over the last few weeks.
