He continued his education at TSTC and graduated with an associate’s degree in Automotive Technology. After graduation Troy worked as a mechanic for Jeff Hunter for over 15 years.
In August 1993 Troy married Renetta and they had two children, Jaylon and Kayshia
Troy loved spending time with his kids, helping others, fishing and barbecuing. He enjoyed working on his truck and helping others with fixing their cars. He was incredibly gifted and knowledgeable in his craft.
Troy dedicated his life to Jehovah. He loved sharing the message of God’s Kingdom and was a faithful servant.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Troy Degrate, in 1980 and grandparents, Richard and Lillie Mae Degrate and Mattie and Ezekiel (Doc) Hicks.
Troy is survived by his mother, Shirley Stroupe and her husband Albert Stroupe; sisters, Bridget Degrate and Shi’Neece Stroupe; children, Jaylon Degrate, Kayshia Degrate-Prescott, Prince Degrate and Justice Degrate and their mom, Shakoor Turner; and his two nephews, Darius Guzman and Cameron Ephraim. Troy was truly loved by his extended family on his father’s and mother’s side (the Degrate’s, the Hick’s and the Mathew’s families), the friends he worked with, and he was truly loved by his Spiritual family and his God Jehovah.
Special thanks to all the friends and family who have reached out with love to share a special memory of Troy and heartfelt condolences. We sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received as we mourn and celebrate the life of our loving, special son, father, uncle and friend Troy Degrate.
