Tommy passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in Waco, Texas.

Graveside Service: 11 AM Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Rosemound Cemetery.

Tommy Grant Smith was born November 20,1946. He attended Moore high school in Waco. He was the oldest of six children. Tommy grew up real fast and left Waco and traveled all over the United States, but Houston was his favorite place to live. He worked on oil rigs. He was very active and outgoing, had a loving personality, and was very friendly and  loved to talk! Tommy was a comedian and a dancer; James Brown was his favorite movie star. Later in Tommy’s life, he slowed down and moved back to Houston where he became a Christian. I can remember talking on the phone many times with him about the Bible and his interest in the Word of God. Tommy will be forever missed and forever loved.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Tom G. Smith and Ella Z. Smith; sister, Sandra A. Taylor; and brother, Teddy E. Smith.

He is survived by his three sisters, Ms. Cy Charissee Johnson a devoted sister, Roberta Smith and Billie Z. Smith; five nieces, Melinda Smith, Sonya and husband Phillip Tucker, Tasha and husband Cliff Martin, Sandra R. Smith, and Monique Drakes; three nephews, Teddy D. Johnson, Derrick and wife Natalie Drakes, and Anthony Bostic.

We are most grateful for the gift of friends like you. Who have been so kind and thoughtful during these hours of sorrow. Your prayers, visits, calls, flowers, and acts of kindness have given us strength and inspiration for the facing of this hour. May God bless each of you.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death neither sorrow nor crying neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4
