Thurman Thomas, Jr.

Thomas(1)

Thurman Thomas, Jr., 49, of Waco, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024 at a Waco hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral Service: 10AM Friday, December 20 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation: 6 to 8PM Thursday, December 19 at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Thurman was born April 3, 1975 in Waco and lived in Whitney with his parents and siblings until the family moved to Waco when Thurman was in the 4th Grade. In high school, Thurman’s activities included University High School Band, PALs, tennis, and the local challenge team, to name a few.

In 1994, Thurman started his family with the birth of the first of his eight children. He was successful in his working life as a journeyman electrician, which also included Thurman establishing his own electrical company and small business. In early 2024, Thurman earned his master’s degree and contractor’s license. He also had the opportunity to educate future electricians as an instructor at TSTC, which showcased his passion for leading and teaching others.

Thurman’s greatest joy in life was caring for and playing with his children and grandchildren. There was nothing more important to Thurman than family. A distant second, but still a very prominent love in his life was becoming a 32nd degree Mason. He put great pride and effort into his Masonic journey. He also had an undeniable love for playing pool, which he shared with his friends at his local chapter of APA. He could be described as an avid fisherman and could never turn down a day trip to Winstar.

Thurman was preceded in death by his father, Thurman Thomas, Sr., mother, Deatra Thomas-Jackson, and brother, Patrick Thomas.

Thurman is survived by his wife of 10 years, Christina Thomas; his children; Allison Robinson (Brandon), Angela Thomas, Alexandria Thomas, Thurman Thomas III, Alliah Thomas, Adrianna Thomas, Abigail Thomas, and Jordan Thomas; two granddaughters, Ariyah Franklin and Adalynn Robinson, sister, Sonya Thomas; and brother, Damion Thomas.

The family would like to acknowledge a special Thank you to Thurman’s Masonic Lodges: Wyatt #21, ISAAD Temple #275 and Rose of Sharon #180;  and to APA-Waco Chapter for your brotherhood and fellowship.
