Susan Kay Smith

Susan “Susie” Smith, a long time Waco resident passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018.

Memorial Service: Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 1 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 4901 Cobbs Dr., Waco, TX

Susan was born June 25, 1962 in Arlington, VA to Col (USAF) Robert and Lois Stell. Susan grew up in Satellite Beach, FL and Ventura, CA, where she graduated from Buena High School in Ventura, CA. She laqter graduated from Ventura Community College with an AS degree in Animal Science. Susan attended Cal Poly San Louis Obispo studying Agriculture Science. During college, she served in the US Army and Army National Guard.

Susan moved to Waco, attended McLennan Community College Nursing Program earning an Associate Degree and becoming a Registered Nurse in 1996. She worked at the Waco Veterans Health Care System, and loved her job at the VA and serving the Veterans.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert Smith and William Smith of Waco, step-daughter Jessica Franco of Waco, sister Debbie McAlister of Simi Valley, CA, sister Jennifer Stell Frazier of Parker, CO along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Susan was active with her “church-lady” group at First United Methodist Church, the Waco Children and Community Theaters. She enjoyed reading, was an avid Harry Potter fan, and being with her boys and friends.
Susan was a good and generous friend, and caring person. She was a wonderful mother and always gave of herself to others. She will be missed by many.
