Socorro Cardenas passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022.

Funeral Service: 4PM Friday, August 12 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.

Socorro Cardenas (or as she was called by her family, “Choco”and “Soco”by her friends, was born July 14, 1974, in Iowa City, IA. She was the daughter of Sirila Cardenas. At a young age, she moved from Iowa to Waco. Socorro graduated from Waco High School and later received her Master of Business from MCC. She went on to work for Sanderson Farms. She enjoyed her job and loved her work family.

Socorro spent a lot of time helping others. Growing up, it was just her and her brother trying to get by, they did not have much. This is the reason she pushed herself to accomplish so much to be successful. She vowed to help those in need, because she knew how it felt to be in that position. She spent weekends feeding and clothing the homeless. Socorro loved Mickey Mouse and her dogs, Mini and Ruby. Ruby had passed from cancer and was her inspiration to stay strong. Her greatest love was for her nephews, Cristian and Sebastian. Those boys were her world. She was the best Tia and Godmother to them.

Socorro was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wilivaldo Delarosa and Socorro Briagas.

She is survived by her loving mother, Sirila Cardenas; brother, Juan Cardenas Jr. and wife Nelly; and her nephews, Cristian and Sebastian Cardenas.

If you would like to honor Socorro, she has suggested you donate to the following organizations: St. Jude Children’s Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Waco Humane Society and to any homeless shelter near you.

Place of Service: Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel , 5201 Steinbeck Bend; Waco, TX 76708
