Sidney Lynn Sayetta, 63, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at his home in Speegleville, after a 3-year battle with cancer.

The memorial service will be held at a later date at the HOT MAC airfield in Speegleville Park.

Sid was born in Newburgh, NY to Leonard and Edna L. (Bauman) Sayetta, and he grew up in Gatesville. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1964, attended McLennan Community College, and served in the U. S. Army.

He worked as an electronics salesman for Hargis Co. and was later employed at Powers Embroidery as a supervisor. Sid married Audra (Webb) Sayetta on October 25, 1980, and in 1985 Sid and Audra founded their own embroidery business, West Lake Monogram. They worked to build the business until he retired in 2006. He continued to serve there as a consultant, while operating West Lake Enterprises.

Known by all for his big, gentle heart, Sid shared many hobbies with friends over the years. Scuba diving, building electric vehicles, flying radio-controlled aircraft, restoring scooters and motorcycles, and boating were his main hobbies. Many knew him as "Skip" or "Skipper" at the HOT MAC Miniature Aircraft Club, at Cushman Club rides in the area, and by close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his loving wife, Audra of Speegleville; sister Joan Webb of Dallas; nephew John David Webb; brother Edward Sayetta of Gatesville; step-sons Clint Mashek and Curtis Mashek; step-grandson Jacob Mashek; brother-in-law Dennis Webb and his wife Linda Joyce; nieces Sally Hanson (married to Brian Hanson) of Boise, ID, Peggy Webb, Debra Webb, Dana Webb, and Katy Webb; great nephew Nathan Hanson; great nieces Rachel Hanson and Cassie McKeon; and his beloved pets, Miss Priss and Lukie.

Many thanks to all of Sid’s good friends including those at HOT MAC and Cushman Club, and special thanks to the "angels" from Providence Hospice.

After a full and giving life here with us, Sid can now have rest and peace with God. The love that Sid shared with Audra was strong, and that love continues.

Memorial donations may be made directly to the family.

Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

My deepest sympathy and prayers. Sid was an incredible man that truly did have a very sincere and giving heart. I truly believe he touched everyone’s life he was a part of. I know he is now God’s angel and will continue to watch over all of those he loved and those he was so close to. He will be missed by so many, but his memory will always be a part of everyone who knew him. God has a wonderful man in heaven with him now! I am glad he is not suffering anymore and is at peace.
