Sandra Jane Stewart

Stewart Obit photo unnamed

Sandra Jane Stewart, 82, of Waco, peacefully passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022.

Graveside service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, April 27 at Morgan Cemetery, Morgan, Texas.

Sandra was an avid Lady Bear basketball fan for many years. She was a season ticket holder, never missed a home game, and made several road trips to support them.

Her door was always open for fellowship of any kind. Whether it was a cup of coffee, a card or domino game or just a visit around the dining room table. She was always up for a day on the town and would insist that you “just come over here and ride with me.”

Her six grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved each of them in a way that made them feel special. She followed all of their sporting events and would be the loudest one in the stands. When her grandkids were reminiscing about her, they all agreed on many things. Two things specifically, she was a pro at the hundred-dollar handshake and you were never going to leave her house hungry. She could whip up a dessert, an entire meal or call in a pizza delivery before you knew what was happening. And, they will always remember the good times that were shared over Bush’s chicken tenders on Tuesday nights.

Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Leland Stewart; children, David Stewart and Debbie Van Cleave; grandchildren, Brittany Van Cleave, Maxwell Stewart, Blake Van Cleave, Logan Stewart, Hannah Lessenger, and Alex Stewart; and great grandchildren, Kylee, Wesley and Adeline; siblings, Wanda Jones, Judy Slover, Nancy Halcomb, Paul Pitts, Toni St. John, Teresa Painter and Donna Burden and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, James and Olah (Boyett) Pitts; and brothers, James “Sonny” Pitts and Jimmy Dale Pitts.

Sandra will be dearly remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her, especially those who called her “Nana”.
