Burrows

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Mr. Russell Michael Burrows Sr., age 64, of China Spring, TX, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, due to a brief illness. Born on November 7, 1960, in Brockton, MA, Russell spent his formative years in Avon, MA, as the beloved son of the late Edwin and Anna Burrows.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Russell particularly loved cheering on New England teams. His love for music and literature, especially the works of his favorite author Robert B. Parker, brought him great joy. Known for his remarkable work ethic, he was a dedicated provider for his family, who will forever treasure the countless memories they shared. From making Sunday breakfasts and cozy daddy-daughter movie nights to coaching basketball and engaging in spirited PlayStation battles, Russell’s presence will be profoundly missed.

Russell is survived by his loving sister, Anne (Betty) Pierce of China Spring, TX; his brother, Edward Burrows and his wife Kathleen of Waco, TX; his two sons, Russell Burrows Jr. and his wife Kayla of North Carolina, and Sean Burrows and his fiancé Shailey Tin of Quincy, MA; and his daughter, Samantha MacKenzie and her husband Donald of Clinton, MA. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Russell, Alice, Brynnlee, Elizabeth and Tess, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Burrows of China Spring, TX, and Robert Burrows of North Attleboro, MA, as well as his brother-in-law William Pierce of China Spring, TX.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services held.

Condolence Messages

  1. I loved hearing him talk to his grandkids on the phone. His voice got higher and lighter. I could feel his smile radiating through the call. I loved listening to him laugh. He always put so much thought and research into what to buy the kids for holidays and birthdays. He liked every photo we posted of them. He will be so missed but we will always remember Grampa Burrows. May he be at peace and know how much he was loved by his family.

  2. My condolences to the family and I am sorry we never got to meet. I hope and pray that you are in a better and comfortable place. Thank you for making amazing bunch of kids.

  3. Gary Recchia Sr.

My deepest sympathy to the entire family. May you find peace in knowing Russell touched so many lives.
I have many fond memories with Russell through high school and into the 80’s. He excelled at basketball and soccer. A small group of us loved sports trivia. The best of times, indeed. He will be missed by all who knew him.
    RIP, ‘ol friend
