Lopez Lightened
Roy R. Lopez of Waco passed Wednesday,  August 31, 2022 at the age of 78.
Raul (Roy) Rosas Lopez was born October 10, 1943. He was born and raised in Waco, TX.  He worked as a truck driver in many places and retired from TXDOT.
He was a cowboy at heart and an avid outdoors-man. In his younger days he loved ranching, rodeo and horses.  He had a great love for hunting, fishing, camping and boating.  Roy and his brother Paul were always interested in woodworking and created many beautiful items.
Roy is survived by his sister, Linda Resendez; brother in law, Steve Resendez, fiancee; Linada Dickerson; and his adopted nephew Robert Reyes, and family; many cousins and life long friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Albina Lopez; and older brother, Paul Lopez Jr.
We are respecting Roy’s wishes.  He did not want a traditional funeral or memorial but a quiet gathering of immediate family to scatter his ashes at his favorite lake.  He requested to be placed beside his brother Paul.  They were always together in life so be it in death.
We ask that you remember him fondly. Cherish his memory and share the “Roy” stories.  Remember his love of the outdoors, his family and most of all his love of God.  A seed was planted in his heart at a young age that did not flourish until the end of his life.  God Bless.

Dear Lopez Family, I just learned of Roy’s passing from Van Tusa. I remember Roy and David Moore from the flea market when both would stop by our booth and sit a few minutes and talk and laugh. Roy always had a good story to tell about something funny that had happen recently and would share with us. Roy took me a ride on his motorcycle too! He was a really great person and friend. Roy gave me his recipe for making hot sauce and I still use that recipe. The last time I talked with Roy was when he stopped by my house while riding his three wheeler and he had his little dog with him. He had a happy soul. May Roy R.I. P.
