Roy Don Freeman, of Evant, passed away in the early hours of October 14, 2022.

A celebration of Donnie’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Evant, TX, Friday, October 21, 2022 at 6:00pm. A reception will follow in the church’s dining hall.

Donnie was born September 22, 1958, in Amarillo, Texas. He attended school in Evant, Texas and was an All-Star athlete. After school, he was married and two wonderful sons were born. He was a high rider and a sergeant for many years at TDCJ. He was recently retired from C&F Steel in Hamilton. He was talented in many areas including flying planes, singing, and dancing.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Bonnie Freeman, and his sisters, Deborah Goodell and Donna Freeman.

He is survived by his brother, Curtis Freeman; sisters, Denice Freeman and Mary McGregor; sons, Brandon Freeman and Dusty Freeman; daughter in law, Amber Freeman; grandchildren, Kelsey Freeman, Rylie Freeman, Daniel Freeman, Ka’tara Freeman, Rachel Freeman, and Moriah Freeman, extended family Gene and Evelyn Karasek, and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by many other relatives and friends.

    The saddness of death gives way to the bright promise of immortality. Donnie is lead by our Lord in the paths of righteousness, large are the mansions with sweet harps holy music -heavenly hymns!!!
    Sicere sympathy to the Family I tried to call him he was keeping me posted his voice was weak I knew he wanted to drudge on in the battle to live after his sister just passed. My heart bleeds he said Evelyn wasn’t well always looking to love & help others never did I think that was my last time to visit with him.
    Pray in the days to come the pain with your loss passes swiftly.
    Im heavy with burden of sorrow.

  3. He was an amazing grandpa..I miss him every day. He was a great friend too. Someone I could rely on. I hope my lord and Savior is taking care of him for me. I miss and love you Papa Donnie.
