Condolences for the family of “Ronald Monroe Slyter”

Condolence from Kim Gardner on April 12th, 2016 10:22 am

My heart breaks for the sorrow I know Pa’s (Ronald Monroe Slyter Sr.) family is feeling. For thirty one years he has been a part of my life and his impact on it has been profound. He and his dear departed wife of 45 years, Carolyn,”adopted” me as one of their children when his oldest daughter, Veronica, and I became friends. He exemplified good character, honor, love, wisdom, patience, and the pure simple joys of life to be found in every day. His shoes cannot be filled by any other. I will take comfort in knowing that this wonderful man of God is in the arms of his savior Jesus now.

Come with me
to Depoe Bay.
Smell the salt in the air,
Feel the mist in your hair.
Hear the spouting horn
As the waves comes in,
See the whales at play.
I see the sparkle in your eye
Hear your giggle
Quiet contemplation,
the majesty of God’s hands
Sit for a spell
Saltwater taffy in hand
Hear the gulls as they call
over the rocks in flight.
The waves come in
Crashing like thunder,
Rolling out with a sigh.
Gazing out to where
Sky meets sea.
Here were your beginnings,
here is where I let go of your hand.
Sail on sweet Pa
Eternity waits.
