Rita Joseph

Rita Joseph
Rita Joseph, 85, of Waco, passed peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 after watching Jeopardy with her granddaughter.

Rita was born January 3, 1937 in Massachusetts. A career accountant, Rita worked for many companies, including Howard Johnson and Bickfords. She was very active in the state Grange, an organization her family had been involved in for generations. Rita held many offices at the local and state levels and was a 50 Year Member. She used her leadership skills to run many Turkey Dinners and booths at local fairs to represent the Grange in benefitting local charities. She remained active until 2016 when she moved to Waco to be closer to family. She then applied her skills to help her new church, most notably in the kitchen on Wednesday nights.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Joseph, her sister and brother in law, Doris and Mike Swift, as well as other fondly remembered family and friends.

Rita is survived by her daughter, Linda Johnston and partner Jeff Falor, granddaughter Jenna Johnston, great-grand kitties Conor and Brogan, and the many extensions of the Joseph and Swift families. She will be missed by many other oddly related loved ones and friends both new and old.

Many thanks to the Community Healthcare of Texas Hospice team, who were of great help during Rita’s last month.
