Memorial Service: 10AM Friday, July 15 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.  CLICK HERE to view the Live Stream of the service

Richard Guadalupe Chavez was born November 23, 1990. Growing up he was a very inquisitive person, from punching buttons on his three-wheeler at the age of two to understanding the controls on the TV remote. We knew that electronics would become his expertise. As he grew older, video games and computers became his love. During his time growing up, he liked fishing, hunting, and video game competitions. He later gained a love for cars, fast cars. He found it easy in the field of Auto Mechanics because of the computer and electronics background he had obtained. He also enjoyed learning indoor and outdoor cooking with his dad and other family members. Richard was a kind and loving individual. He was always ready to help those he loved, even those he did not know, and he always did it with a smile. He had three dogs and two guinea pigs. Overall, he would have wanted everyone not to mourn, but to celebrate him having lived his life and to be at peace knowing he is not hurting anymore.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Ochoa; grandparents, Domingo T. Chavez and Helen B. Chavez, and Martin S. Perez; and aunts, Betty Chavez, Delores Chavez, and Erminnia Salinas.

He is survived by his mother, Mary A. Perez; father Richard S. Chavez and wife Mary Lamar; sister, Pauline Cervantes and husband Raul; nephews, Nathaniel, and Christian; grandmother, Maria G. Perez; aunts, Diane Lozano and husband Jose, Ernestine Sifuentes and husband Frank, and Mary Ann Chavez; uncle, Thomas Chavez; cousin, Reynaldo Loera, Jr. and wife Amy; and numerous other relatives.

Place of Service: Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel , 5201 Steinbeck Bend; Waco, TX 76708

Condolence from Eric Moye on July 13th, 2022 8:23 am

I played video games with Richard online. He was one of my Discord moderators and also was a mod of my Minecraft server when I had it running. I hate the thought of never getting to sit in discord and chat with him again. Or running dungeons on stupid games laughing and having fun. There was never a dull or non remembered moment with Richard. I still have the games files for my server with the house and stuff he built up. I think I’ll keep those in a safe place in his memory. Goodbye Richard, may you rest in peace you fantastic man. I hope your dancing amongst the stars my friend. My condolences to Richard’s family, may they know he was a wonderful soul who touched many both in person and online. He will be remembered. -Squishee

May God comfort you, Richard, and your family as you mourn the loss of your son. We are not supposed to bury our children. I recall the day you told us you were going to be a father and how happy you were! I will continue to keep you in my prayers.
