Sallie, Joeena and family, my deepest sympathy in the passing of your dad, Dewey, whom I called the Southern Gentleman. He was a man of faith, kind, loving and most of all respectful to others. Anytime a lady entered the room he would stand. When told it’s ok, Sir, please don’t stand, his reply would be, “a gentleman always stands for a

When my folks moved to waco, I went with them as the looked for a church home. I’ll never forget Dewey’s friendly smile as he walked up to the three of us. “Hi, my name’s Dewey Baldwin. Just think of a wet piano—a dewey Baldwin piano.” It worked. I never had trouble remembering Dewey’s name. And, I never forgot this friendly man who welcomed my parents to Waco with arms open wide. Dewey and Tootie became favorite friends of Mom and Dad and we will all miss him.

Praying for your family during this time. As a neighbor down the street and retired teacher from Connally, Mr. And Mrs. Baldwin were very special people and always waved as I walked by.

I started to try to write yesterday what your dad and your mom and your family has meant to ours. No words are enough.

The first time I saw Dewey was in the first day of second grade for Keenan and Mattie. He was sitting next to Keenan’s desk in his new classroom patiently waiting to speak with the teacher, so unassuming. It wasn’t long after that my daughter cut her friend’s hair off playing beauty shop and I called church hoping the preacher could talk me down from driving off into the sunset never to return. Church had started that evening but Dewey spoke with me in a calm reassuring way that made me realize it would be ok – without saying those words. I don’t know what he said but his presence felt like what it means to lay something at the foot of the cross. He was a great example of being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Hundreds of other days with you, Sallie, and Keenan and your parents. Summer cookouts. Times sitting around your round table just being with you guys. Special friends/family will always be especially missed. I’ll tell you again, he was the greatest, most humble, dedicated servant of the Lord and lover of people that I have ever known.

Prayers to the family,
Such fond memories of both Mr & Mrs both at CISD. I will never forget Mr. Baldwin drove my school bus, one afternoon on our way home, a car ran the bus off the road on Spring Lake Road. Mr. Baldwin mantained his composure and I remember him praying out loud the entire time we were running down the ditch, never once did he turn loose of the wheel. He slid out of his seat but continued holding on to that steering wheel and praying. No one was hurt and he made sure we all got out the back door of the bus safely. I will remember that forever. What a kind, God fearing man he was.

Our family had the privilege of knowing the Baldwin family for years. Dewey and Francis were special people. They meant a lot to us. Dewey “did it his way” most of the time, but he did the Lord’s work always.

My words will never be as memorable as Dewey himself. Your beautiful memories will always be carried with you. Dewey will live forever in your hearts. He is a Hero for serving our country as a proud Marine in WWII. He is a Hero for sharing the Lord’s word. He is a Hero because he was Family and Friend. Dewey will be missed but remain Loved. Dear Baldwin Family,
Memories and life lessons are shared by my brothers and I learned and shared from your Dad. We spent many wonderful hours with your family in the Youth Programs at College Avenue Baptist Church in McGregor. Camping trips, mission trips, watching the first steps by man on the moon…bible school, bible study, living our lives for Our Lord as he did every day. Taught by example how to support our families, friends, church, and community through Christ. One memory is mine alone…Rexall Drug Store 2:00 pm ish. Cup of coffee with a scoop of vanilla ice cream…I was his server, Put a smile on my face one afternoon. Fine man of God and God called him home. Prayers for your grief.

We are all very sorry for the loss of your Dad. Your parents have always been two of my favorite people ever! I have so many memories that include the entire Baldwin Family.

Gentle Hands from Heaven guide us through life twists and turns.

To the Baldwin family,
My heartfelt sympathy to each of you at the passing of your Father and Grandfather. Your loss is heaven’s gain as we know he is enjoying the reunion with your mom, family, and friends who have gone on before him. He’s in God’s presence.
I have so many happy memories of my years spent with the Baldwin family and being a part of the youth group at College Avenue Baptist Church in McGregor. Brother Baldwin had no problem “calling us out by name” during worship service for giggling or being too loud! We were so blessed.

Grandpa was an amazing man and I wish I got to see him more. I remember one time him and Tootie took me and my brother to Cracker Barrel and let us pick out anything we wanted. I’m glad he gets to be with Tootie now and I couldn’t be more thankful for him being my great-grandpa.

Our parents are precious gifts from the Lord. They bless us each day. Even when they are gone from us physically, we still feel their love and influence. I’m sorry to hear of Dewey‘s passing, but rejoice in his new life with his Lord.
Dewey and Francis or important parts of my life and Christian growth. I am so thankful for their leader ship an incredible sense of fun!
