I am a lifelong resident of Waco, having graduated from Connally High School and attended McLennan Community College. At the age of 20, I received an Associate of Applied Science degree from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service and received several distinguished awards including Class Valedictorian. I have been a licensed funeral director and embalmer for the State of Texas since 1991. I started my career with an apprenticeship at Laurel Land Funeral Homes and Cemetery in Fort Worth. From 1989 to 1998, I served as Funeral Director, Embalmer, and Restorative Artist for Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home in downtown Waco, before serving as Assistant Manager at Brookview Funeral Home in Waco until 1999.

Until 2006, I was the Operations Director for Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Homes in Cleburne and Burleson and then became a special case Embalmer and Funeral Director for American Mortuary Service in Dallas, and Waco and Temple Mortuary Services. In 2007, I served as Manager of Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco before opening my own funeral home, Lake Shore, in 2008.

My commitment to the community extends beyond my professional life. I am a member of Highland Baptist Church in Waco, Gideons International, and Providence Hospice Advisory Board Member, and Waco Chamber of Commerce. I am also a member and Past Charter President of China Spring-Bosqueville Area Lions Club and a former member of Waco Founder Lions Club and Cleburne Lions Club.

I am married to the former Carri Pendergrass and together we have two daughters, Taylor and Madison. My whole family has been involved in the operation of Lake Shore Funeral Home since it’s conception, including my parents, Wade and Ann Shehorn. Together, we see our professional work as a ministry in serving the families of Waco and surrounding communities along with their professional staff who work closely together and consider each other as family.
