Norma Pogue passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00 am, in her own home and surrounded by her family. She died on National Women’s Day, proving she was a lady till the end.
Memorial Service: 10:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Faith Temple Baptist Church (1197 Old Lorena Rd, Lorena, TX 76655).
Inurnment: 3:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Hico Cemetery.
Norma was born on June 30, 1950 in Meridian, TX to Jewell and Lloyd Bullard. She was raised in Bosque County along with her brother, Kenneth Haggard. She attended Irdell Elementary school and graduated from Meridian High School in 1968.
Norma loved nature and loved people…She enjoyed writing about it and taking pictures of it. She enjoyed traveling and gardening. But, she loved NOTHING more than her family! She didn’t believe that she would EVER love anything more than her six children… until they started having children. Now she has fourteen grandchildren, from twenty-one years old to one year old…she adored them with every fiber of her being.
Most people are blessed to have a couple of truly Great friends in their lifetime, but I never saw a person have so many really close, true friends, like Norma has. She was loved so dearly, by so many! The response to her loss has been overwhelming and yet beautiful. More than one of her friends used the word “Precious” to describe her. One recent caregiver said, “There is a lot of ugliness in this world, but that woman is lovely.”
But No One loved her like Dad….He adored her, cherished her, cared for her needs beyond the call of duty. There is no way to explain the bond they shared, the years they shared, the world they traveled, and the struggles they fought through together. Thirty-two years Hand in Hand! Years of driving to Houston for appointments and months in hospitals Dad “slept” in chairs so she wouldn’t be alone…And because there wasn’t anywhere else in the world for him to be.
She will be missed and remembered and honored always. But she will live forever through us. And I know she continues to watch diligently from Heaven, where she no longer has pain; where she will live forever in complete joy.
Norma was preceded her in death by her mother, Jewell Thomas Kenney and father, Lloyd George Bullard.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Dwayne Pogue; children Aaron Jacob Vaughn, David Paul Vaughn, Rebecca Ellen Burns, Curtis Allan Pogue, Robert Dennis Pogue, Trevor Scott Pogue; and her brother, Kenneth Carl Haggard.

Norma and I were in the same grade in Iredell grade school. Have known her most all my life . Sometimes there are no words to describe a lifelong friend such as Norma. No words ,,, just tears, laughter , memories , and thankfulness . R.I.P. my dear friend. Prayers and comfort to all the family and friends. Ron
My heart aches for our family but equally with joy for Norma being in her new home in the presence of our Lord and Savior and family that preceded her. Her smile, the sound of her sweet loving voice will forever live in my heart. I am so blessed to have gotten to know her love the past few years as we share our brother Kenneth , and Barbara. along with Curtis too. Rest in peace dear Sister, you will be truly missed by many. Prayer for all her family. May God give you peace and comfort.

Aunt normally was a wonderful person inside and out! Everything written above is the perfect way to describe her as a person. Always loved her family no matter how far away the lived or how distant of a relative they were, she loved them unconditionally. She was one of the most positive people I think I have ever known. She loved her children, grandchildren and uncle Curtis more then anything in this world and she showed it and talked about proudly. She will be truly missed by anyone that has had a chance to know her. Love you aunt Norma.

I unfortunately never had the honor of meeting Norma. She reached out to my siblings and I a few years ago and informed us she was our moms cousin (who passed away 14 years ago). She sent us precious pictures of our mom and she never missed an opportunity to leave a sweet comment on Facebook of our kids. Though I never met her she inspired me every day on Facebook with her fight. She was a beauty and a warrior and I’m terribly sorry for your loss.
My first friend when I moved to Lake Whitney. She was all loving and showed me about God. The world will miss her
Norma was one of the most open honest, most positive woman I have ever met, I was truly honored to call her my friend. She always took time to keep us posted on her progress regardless of how she was truly feeling, she is and will always be a hero to me, I love you Norma ~ Go rest high on that mountain until we meet again, I will cherish our memories, and miss you. Curtis I am so truly sorry for your loss, May God wrap his arms around you and the family and get you through the most difficult days ahead
Norma was a childhood friend at Iredell. I’m thrilled that she became the adult she was. I enjoyed keeping up with her through Facebook. I’m so sorry for your loss.

To have a friend like Norma, for over 60 years, is beyond words.
My condolences to Norma’s family and friends! We all have such special memories of her and those memories will always bring a smile to our faces. She was such a special lady, who was not only kind, but very considerate of people. She was a one of a kind and we all knew it and she made us all feel special when she was with us. Unfortunately, God saw she was tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around her and whispered “Come to Me”. I know she is gone, but I also know that she will forever in our hearts. Love you my S/F as we called each other “Sister/Friend”.
So sorry for your loss…I worked with Norma at Naman, Howell, Smith & Lee. She was a great lady. Rest high angel.

So sorry Norma has lost her hard-fought battle! My sincere condolences to all of her family. I had a sweet visit with her last fall when she came to pick up some old schoolhouse lilies I had dug for her. I will think of her every fall when “our” lilies bloom! Blessings!
I knew Norma from National Life & Accudent. I knew her when she bought her first house, moved to Gholson. I re-reconnected wuth her 2 years ago. Got to see her again. Did not know she passed.
