Newell G. Bullard, Sr., 60, of Lacy Lakeview, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2009 in a Fort Worth hospital. Memorial services will be 12 Noon Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel. Military honors will be observed. Newell was born December 8, 1948 in Hillsboro to William and Lucille (Robertson) Bullard. He had an outstanding 24 year military career with the U.S. Army including Vietnam combat, serving two years in Iraq in 2006-2007, and traveled abroad, living twelve years overseas. He married Patricia Morgan on November 23, 1970 in Hillsboro. Newell loved life and was loved by many. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Johnny Bullard and Louis Bullard; sister, Mary Bullard; and son, Morgan Bullard.

Survivors include, wife of 38 years, Patricia Bullard; daughters, Jennifer Fields and husband, Eddie and Jessica Blanton and husband, Chris; sons, Newell Bullard, Jr. and Matthew Bullard and wife, Glenna; nine grandchildren, Carissa, Newell III., Rocky, Avery, Brevin, Kiley, Jasmine, Zarin, and Grace; brother, William Ralph Bullard; niece, Shannon Garrett; and nephew, Brandon Bullard.

The family would like to especially thank the nurses and staff at Kindred Hospital Southwest in Fort Worth for their special care and compassion.

I met Newell in 1974 in the army . he was trying to take over my motor pool operation and i was fighting mad . i thought he was the devil and he new i was no prince, a match mad in heaven. as i learned more about him and his family i learned that he studied the bible and he showed me how to be a better man. I know how he felt when he lost his son Morgan ,although it not the same the hurt is . i lost a great friend . i want to thank Patricia for trying to show us both the way. she is a great lady and i know made him a better man . Love both of you . don

  6. Newell Bullard was my father’s best friend and after my dad passed away Newell always kept in touch with my mother to make sure she was ok. Newell was a great friend to the Patton family and he will be greatly missed.

  8. Newell and I became friends through pool. We had been on more than one road trip together playing pool. Newell loved the game and the competition that it offered. He was also a great player. I will miss him dearly!

  9. Uncle Newell will forever be in our hearts and thoughts. We will surely miss him. He was like a second Dad for me I spent many of summers with the family. I remember he once told me even though your married you will always be a Bullard. He always called me Shanny when ever we spoke on the phone or when I saw him in person. It’s these type of memories that will forever be in my heart.He always called my little brother Brandon Tyler Bullard "BT". He was a good man.Love You Bunches Uncle Newell.

    Sorry and sad about finding out so late about the passing away of my boss, my mentor and my friend. I had the privilege of serving under him in Hanau, Germany 85- 88. MSG Bullard has been one of the must influential person on my life. From him I really learned the real meaning of organization ,responsibility and leadership .Great human being.Always remember him. My condolences to his family. God bless.
