Monalou Ann McMullen passed away at her daughter’s home Thursday, August 22, 2019, at the age of 80.

Visitation: 2-4 PM, Sunday, August 25, at Lake Shore Funeral Home

Funeral Services: 1:00 PM, Monday, August 26, at Lake Shore Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery.

Monalou was born December 3, 1938, to Paul and Jewel Lane, in McGregor. They soon moved to Waco, where Monalou spent her childhood. Monalou married Kenneth McMullen June 2, 1956, and they were married for 63 years. God blessed their union with three sons and one daughter. She was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a member of the Church of Christ and lived out her faith with joy.
Monalou loved family gatherings, giving gifts, and cooking favorite foods. Her hospitable table welcomed many friends alongside her family. She also loved to go shopping and take younger ladies along, helping watch their children and buying lunch for everyone. “Maw Maw” had a special connection with children and would spend hours reading books, coloring pictures and playing games with them. Her role as the “candy lady” at church endeared her to many, and her musical singing voice brought joy to those around her. We will always remember her beautiful spirit, the way she always found the good in others. She loved extravagantly.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth McMullen; sons, Nathan McMullen and wife, Marijane, Kevin McMullen and wife, Kyla, and Gayland McMullen and wife, Sheryl; daughter, Kathy Laney; brother, Jimmy Lane and wife, Doris; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Place of Service: Lake Shore Funeral Home , 5201 Steinbeck Bend; Waco, TX 76708

Sweet memories linger in my mind of dear Sister Monalou. She was hospitable, swert, generous, kind, gentle, loving, godly, and many more. She gave my first born Joanna a very cute little apron when she was 5. She was a good cook, a very talented lady. We thank her for being a good example to many of us…

Dorothy Sharp Sheeler(classmate 1957)

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Monalou. She was a beautiful lady inside and outside and taught her children the same values. When we lived in Waco, Kenneth was the person we would call for air conditioning. Very trustworthy and the job done right. My prayers are with the family because Monalou will be missed.

Monalou was my sweet cousin. My Dad, Sam Cluck, was her Mom’s brother. Although I haven’t seen Monalou in many years, I have so many beautiful memories of her beauty and sweet, sweet spirit. I’m so sorry that she is no longer with her family on earth but know that she is with our heavenly family now! How sweet is that?
