Minnie Peevey, 86, of Hewitt, passed away Tuesday, March 4th at a local care center. Graveside services will be 1PM Tuesday, March 11th at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery. No Visitation is planned. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

Minnie was born September 27, 1927 in Robinson to Martin and Betty(Tovar) King. Minnie had a love for life. Anyone who knew her, knew she had a strong love for God, her children, grandchildren and the things that made life beautiful.

January 3rd, 1942, Minnie was married to Edward E. Peevey, and together they had two children. Not only was Minnie a wife who loved, followed and stood by her husband, she was a mother. And not only to her children, but to all of those who came in contact with her. She had a loving heart and was willing to give.

Minnie never met a stranger in her life. Her smile and charisma could light up a room. Minnie believed it was better to give than to receive, as that was God’s way. When you were around her, you could just feel the spirit of the Lord was there too. Minnie loved God and would always recite Psalms 23 to her guests.

If Minnie could express celebration of her passing today she would probably say to us all;
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 63 years, Edward E. Peevey, Sr.; and five brothers, Joe, Frank, Robert, Martin, and Johnny King.

Survivors include daughter, Erline Pratka and husband, Calvin; son, Edward E. Peevey, Jr.; grandchildren, Stacey Allen and husband, Dana, Sarah Ledbetter and Leo Gaines, and Shannon Peevey and wife, Cecelia; great grandchildren, Zachary Allen, Victoria Allen, Kolton Pratka, Kacie Ledbetter, Alistaire Peevey, and Clara Peevey; sister, Connie Parolini; brother, Richard King; and numerous other relatives.
