Mike was born on May 14, 1948, in Brownwood, Texas to John and Julia Colehour. He voluntarily joined the United States Marine Corps after high school graduation and was a Vietnam Veteran.  After his military duty, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Building Technology.  Mike worked for several commercial/residential construction companies as well as the Trautschold Millwork Company for many years before retiring in 2010. After his granddaughter was born, his daughter Shannon told him to grow out his beard and hair and bought him a Santa suit. So, he became Santa one month of the year, riding in parades, visiting different companies and treasuring his time with the kids at school. He loved it!

Mike also loved watching and participating in sports.  Under his tutelage and softball coaching, his daughter Shannon became an outstanding softball pitcher and player.  He enjoyed watching and assisting his daughter when she started coaching a softball team that included his granddaughter, Dylan.

Mike is survived by his wife, Janis; his daughter, Shannon Cox; son-in-law, Michael Cox; granddaughter, Dylan Cox; brothers, Robert and Christopher Colehour; sister, Julie Odom; nieces, Kristin, Autumn, Amber, Ashlea, Abby and their families; nephew, CJ; and sister-in-law, Andrea Colehour.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Colehour.

  2. Deepest sympathies to Janice, Shannon, and all the Colehour family. I haven’t seen Mike since our years spent coaching Lake Air Little League softball, but Mike made a lasting impression on those lucky enough to know him. He was not only a competitive and excellent coach, he was also an outstanding human being..He cared for all the kids on the field, not just those in his dugout. The genuine kindness and care for all those involved simply spoke volumes about his character. Thank you, Sir….Well done, Well Done indeed. The Money family..
