Freedman(1)

Melinda Ann Holmes-Freedman, recently turned 53 years old, passed away unexpectedly in her home in China Spring on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Celebration of Life Gathering: 10AM to 12 Noon Saturday, December 14 at Renew Church in Waco.

Melinda was born in Waco, TX on November 18, 1971. She graduated Waco High School in 1990. Following graduation, she went on to receive her degree as a registered nurse. She spent the rest of her life taking care of her patients and family who loved her so dearly. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, nurse, and friend. She was a strong, beautiful woman whom cannot be easily summed up by a collection of words. Not only was she a force to be reckoned with, but she had a tender and warm soul. She adored her grandson and loved hearing his sweet laugh. She enjoyed crafting, drawing, music and the Fast and Furious movies. She loved Harbor Freight and decorating the Christmas tree and her two dogs Bella and Gizmo who have already passed on.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Jerry Freedman; and her father, Edward Holmes.

She is survived by her mother, Wynelda Holmes; sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Bud Mitchell;  daughters, Niki and Bailee; sons-in-law, Chris Thomas and Gage Gunter; and grandson, Parker Thomas.

Anyone who knew her would know she didn’t want to be the center of attention so the family has decided to honor her memory in a private cremation service. Her daughters will spend the next year spreading her ashes in the oceans she wanted to visit.

Her beautiful and compassionate spirit will live on forever and memories of her will be shared for many years to come.

    Dear Wynelda,
Please accept my condolences on the loss of your daughter.

  6. So sorry for the loss of Mindy, and I agree she was a force to be reckoned with. I remember several summers of baby sitting her and Missy and going to the swimming pool, and driving through the car wash. (We use to think that was a big deal.) We also went to a lot of Family Reunions at the city park in Teague Texas. Wow, so many fond memories. Praying for the family, Wynelda, Missy, Nikki and Bailey. May God give you strength and comfort. Love ya’ll, Carol
