Madeline Susi Canuteson, 70 of Waco, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018.

Memorial service:  Sunday, March 18 at 3pm at Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 1624 Wooded Acres in Waco.

Susi was born December 22, 1947 in Waco and graduated from Richfield High School in 1966. She was the former owner and operator of Smith Monument Company. She later went on to be a clinical lab technician before retiring. On May 22, 1998, Susi married her loving husband, Steve Canuteson. She was also an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit.

Susi was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Margaret Fall.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Canuteson; daughters, Kimberly Kelley and husband Michael of McKinney and Meredith Stephens and husband Marc of Dallas; son, Jon Seawright and wife Ashley of Jackson, MS; and grandchildren: Garrett Kelley, Emma Kelley, Cooper Kelley, Sarah Bradford Seawright and Jon Heath Seawright

Susi’s faith was of great comfort to her, her family and friends.  She leaves behind a great legacy of memories that includes fun times, laughter and her endless amount of love and caring for everyone in her life.  She was a loyal friend to many people and was devoted to her family.  She had an incredible bond with her grandchildren and loved them with all her heart. Susi also had a deep and life-long friendship with Carol South, who was a tremendous comfort and resource to her and her family.

Susi enjoyed nothing more than preparing a great meal and enjoying it with her family, which usually meant making enough for an army and burning the rolls.  Her love knew no bounds and she shared it with all those around her. Her family and friends will celebrate her life the way she wanted – loving one another, enjoying silly things that create laughter and taking time to enjoy the simple things in life every day.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit or Fuzzy Friends Rescue.

The family would like to share a special thank you to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospice, especially Debbie, as well as the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson.

Condolence from Maureen Bilbrey on March 13th, 2018 12:31 pm

Steve, I will never forget the Sunday when we came out of church and your car was missing. Susie just knew who took it. We offered you a ride home but you refused. The next Sunday we asked if you found your car and you started laughing . It turned out that you had parked on the other side of the church. That was so funny. It’s tough getting old. Love you. Keith and Maureen Bilbrey

So sorry to hear about Susi’ s passing . I worked with her at Texas Oncology for many years; she brought hope and joy to the cancer patients with her PALS group and helped raise a lot of money for the American Cancer Society. She will be greatly missed by many. Nona Preble

My dearest Seawright siblings And their families, words cannot take away the pain, but knowing people care and feel the hurt with you is comforting somehow. Nothing can ease the emptiness you all are feeling But please know my heart, LOVE, and prayers are with you all now and in the days and weeks and years to come. Our mom’s died almost 2 months exactly from each other. 1-15-18 For my mommy.

I can’t count the number of times I would drop in on Steve and Susi and as soon as I walked in the door I knew my timing was right on. The table was set and there was a full meal deal laid out and was shared with whoever might drop by. I’m talking down home cooked meal and plenty of it. Susi would not let you leave until you had your fill and usually after you had eaten you could not move for a while so you stayed and visited a bit. May God grant Susi eternal Peace and ease the pain for Steve and the family.

Mom—I love you forever. I don’t know how we will go forward without you but we will do our best. Whenever we laugh, we’ll be thinking of you and all the fun times and silliness you loved. Garrett and I will make sure we have a Christmas theme. I’m so lost but going to try to make you proud. Thank you mom for all the memories and for making sure we were so loved. Condolence from Sandy Stamper on March 18th, 2018 2:02 pm

Kim, John and Mimi, you have all been on my mind through all of this. I wanted to spend more time with her but she was always so active and if we had not known of her illness we would not have ever guessed she was a sick sick lady. I have never known anyone more courageous than your Mom. I took her to chemo, went to her house and we reminisced and laughed and laughed and she was always so bright and happy. We talked often. I was going to see her the week God called her home. Be strong dear ones. She definitely was and will be missed by me soooo much. She was loved by many. Sandy Stamper
