Mackenzie Renae Bewley, 17, gained her heavenly wings on May 21, 2022, near Laguna Park.

Visitation: 6 to 8PM Friday, June 3 at Lake Shore Funeral Home 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.

Graveside Service: 10AM Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Old Perry Cemetery near Moody.

Mackenzie was born July 23, 2004 to Avery Vernell Bewley and Mary Maxine (Phillips) Long in Waco. She attended elementary school at China Spring ISD before moving to Hewitt and attending middle and high school at Midway ISD. Mackenzie was enrolled in the Greater Waco Advanced Health Care Academy (GWAHCA) program and received her Certified Nursing Assistant License during her junior year, and most recently became an EKG Certified Technician. She had just graduated from the Academy on May 11, 2022. She also participated in the Midway Choir her freshman through junior years. Mackenzie was set to graduate from Midway High School on May 27, 2022. She had been accepted to the University of Texas at Arlington Bachelor’s Degree Nursing Program. Sadly, Mackenzie’s mother passed away after a long battle with cancer just a few weeks into her senior year. Her mother’s journey inspired Mackenzie to dream of becoming a pediatric oncology RN in the future. She had overcome so many challenges in life and showed all of us her amazing strength and determination. Her favorite saying was “It’ll Buff”. Mackenzie could be stubborn but loving at the same time. She loved hanging out with her friends and listening to an eclectic collection of music. She also loved spending time with her new nieces Etta and Addison. Mackenzie was a special force of nature, and we are grateful to have had her beautiful presence in our lives, even if for a short time.

Mackenzie was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Long; grandparents, Chesley Phillips, Glenda Bewley, Walter Bewley, and Barbara Chaney; great grandmother, Mary Welch; and uncle, Joseph Bewley.

Mackenzie is survived by her father, Avery Bewley and step-mother, Lisa; step-father, Raymond Long; brothers, Raymond Long, Jr., Matthew Long, Hunter Chumley, Dustin Randall and wife, Jennifer, Shane Randall, and Garrett Randall; sisters, Angel Sciortino and husband, Michael, Jr., and Kaitlyn Bewley; grandparents, Mary Jane Phillips and Perry Robinson, Jane Sullivan, Everett Davis; aunts and uncles, Dusty Sullivan and wife, Ying, Amir Yusuf, Madaline Thornton, Meagan Thornton, Sandy White and husband, Ricky, Amy Neese, Robin Bruce, Chrissy McCourt and husband, Eric, and Sheila Bruce; and nieces and nephews, Addison, Etta-Maxine, Dawson, Xander, Jazzlynn, and Ava.
