Loree Smith, 48, of Crawford, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, after a long battle with Melanoma cancer. Funeral services will be 10am Friday, December 6th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8pm Thursday, December 5th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Loree was born in Odessa to John Smith and Cynthia Lyons Scales. She attended school at Richfield High School in Waco. Loree was a dear friend to several and a wonderful sister, daughter, mother, aunt and grandmother. She loved spending time with family and her animals, especially her horse and her dog Chubby. Her granddaughter, Jaymee, held a special place in her heart. She was an excellent mother to her three kids: Michael, Calee and Hollee. She fought Melanoma cancer for almost ten years, showing great strength and unwavering faith.

She was proceeded in death by her grandfathers, Calvin Lyons and Forest Smith; grandmothers, Jimmie Lyons and Willie Mae Ducette.

She is survived by her father, John Smith, Sr.; mother, Cynthia Scales and husband John Scales; son, Michael Cargill and his wife Amanda; daughters, Calee Cargill and Hollee Hodges; and granddaughter, Jaymee Plant; brothers, Joel Smith and wife Lisa, and John Smith Jr. and wife Alisa, sisters, Tammy Cathey and husband Larry, and Kassie Smith; several nieces and nephews; and best friends, Becky Bell Hays and Kim Bailey Cannon whom she dearly loved.

    My deepest sympathies to Loree’s family. I have fond memories of Loree and I playing with Breyer horses many years ago when we lived on Fairview. I remember she was an animal lover even as a young girl. My condolences.
