Lola Faye Hall

Hall Lola Faye

Lola Faye Hall, 92, of Lacy Lakeview, passed into the arms of her Savior on January 1, 2016. Lola Faye passed away from natural causes related to age.

Visitation and Viewing: 6 to 8PM Tuesday, January 5th at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Lola Faye was born on July 17, 1923 in Coolidge to Clarence and Sadie (Young) Spruiell. She was raised and attended school in Hubbard and was one of three children. A child of tough economic times, Lola Faye knew the value of a dollar and worked hard to provide a good life for herself and her family. From an early age, Lola Faye was rarely ever called by her given name. She preferred being called “Sister” by her siblings, and once she became a grandmother, she was simply known as “Mema” to all who knew her.

Lola Faye married John Newton Hall, Sr. in 1959. Lola Faye was a very hard working stay at home mother. She was baptized at Oaklawn Baptist Church and was a member of Elm Mott Baptist Church.

Lola Faye was known for her spunk and feisty spirit. She held true to her beliefs and was known for speaking up on topics and issues important to her. Lola Faye very much enjoyed visiting with family and neighbors, attending church, keeping up with world events and politics, and most especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Lola Faye was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Hall, Sr.; oldest son, Ronnie McKinney; infant great-grandson, Hayes Lee Hall; her parents, a sister, Alleen Shilling; and a brother, Ed Spruiell.

Lola Faye is survived by her son, John Hall, Jr. and wife Donna, of Woodway; granddaughters, Rona McKinney of Waco, Amber Harrison and husband John of Dallas; grandson, Cody Hall and wife Ginny of Lorena; great-grandsons, Braxton Stefka of Waco, and Mack Harrison of Dallas; and great-granddaughter, Ellie Marie Hall of Lorena. Lola Faye is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and their children.

The family would like to thank everyone who provided her love and care, especially as her health declined, namely her neighbors Maxie Sedillo and his family and Gary and Chanda Taylor. These generous friends selflessly gave of their time and resources to look after Mema, and the entire family will always be thankful. The family would also like to thank Dr. Stephen Raley and staff, the staff at Ridgecrest Nursing Home for their care and concern and Hillcrest Hospital and Hillcrest Hospice.

Memorials can be made to the March of Dimes, 1105 Wooded Acres, Suite 430, Waco, TX 76710, or the charity of your choice.
