Linda Hyden lived a life that was truly larger than the vast skies of her birthplace, Big Spring, Texas. Born on July 7, 1958, Linda brought her own brand of sunshine to the world—a light she carried with her until her peaceful passing on March 15, 2025, at the age of 66. Her journey here may have ended, but her spirit and stories will continue to bless those she loved and charmed along the way.
Linda was a woman of quiet faith; she wasn’t in church every Sunday, but the love of the Lord glowed through her simple acts of kindness and the way she embraced life itself. From an early age, she defied the constraints of her time by teaming up with her sister Teresa as the first girls to enroll into their high school’s electrical vocational class. That achievement was just the tip of the iceberg.
Her world expanded even more when she became a mother to her beloved daughter, Catherine in June 1981—a role she cherished beyond measure. Linda found a different kind of family in the many faces and lives she touched in Lubbock, Texas, where she became the hardworking head of maintenance for three large mobile home parks. There, she wasn’t just a boss; she was the beating heart of a community that thrived on her energy and warmth.
Linda wasn’t just a mother; she was a Memaw and Great Memaw, titles she wore with joy and mischief. To her family, she wasn’t just a relative; she was the life of the party, that spirited soul who accepted you warmly no matter what road you traveled to get to her door. Everyone she met became family; whether you joined her for a laugh, a song, or a heartfelt prayer, you found a friend for life.
Linda is survived by a family as genuine and warm as she was. Her mother & stepfather, Bobbie & Jeanie Adair, her daughter Catherine Morlan, her sisters Teresa Cassidy (Jim) and Sandy Wood (Blane), her brother Randy Hyden (Julie), her grandchildren Brendon Hyden, Tyler Morlan, and Cailyn Morlan, great grandchildren Eastyn, River, & Rhiannon remain to honor her memory. Linda’s father, JD Hyden, and her sister Brenda Linehan and her brother-in-law Adam Linehan and her brother John Hyden predeceased her, perhaps currently enjoying a heavenly reunion.
We will gather to celebrate Linda’s life on March 25, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Lakeshore Funeral Home. After, we will proceed to Patrick Cemetery where Linda will be laid to rest next to her favorite sister, Brenda. As we reflect on the undeniable mark she left on each of our hearts, we will remember Linda as one of a kind. Her radiant soul had a way of making any encounter sparkle. Indeed, Linda Hyden was a hoot with no fear—a bold spirit who sang louder, prayed harder, and loved bigger than most. As she moves onto her next great adventure, we know she is inviting each of us to remember, to laugh, to share our own jokes and songs, until we meet once more. Linda will be greatly missed, but her lessons and laughter will remain with us always.
