Lexie taught us all how to live. I met her when she was in Lorena Jr. High and, in spite of the fact she was often fighting the insurmountable affects of diabetes, she ALWAYS had a smile on her pretty face. That smile and positive attitude continued to the end. What a great example she set. Tammy and Greg, we love you both and pray for comfort.

  42. My deepest sympathy for your family, I’ve known lexie through my son Alex Kim, she had a very special place in his heart and still does, we lost a very special angel walking amongst us and now we have one above us in heaven,. She made them all a better person because of her will, and energy, not to let anything stop her from being positive, and always had a beautiful smile.. She’s an inspiration to us all. God bless you lexie

  43. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of Lexi. She is one of those kids that a teacher never forgets. I had her in classes at Lorena High. May you all know that she was a star here on earth as she is now in heaven.

To Lexie’s family, my heart hurts for you. I am so sorry. I didn’t know Lexie but it’s obvious from these notes from those who knew her that she is a special young lady who is brightening heaven with her presence.

  45. Leah, RN-Providence Hospice Place

My heart just breaks for you and your family! I wanted to say thank you for letting me take care of your sweet, beautiful, Lexie. In just the 4 short days I was blessed to be her nurse, she stole my heart. (Actually, she stole it the first day!) I will always remember the strong, young lady she was and how she loved to teach and of course, I will remember her when I smell the stress relief lotion and candles from Bath & Body Works. (That is my favorite as well.) Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God grant you the peace that only He can give.

  46. I never knew her but my heart broke when I heard of her passing. I am also a 22 year old T1D & live 20 miles from the Gap. I have two friends that knew her & have heard only encouraging things about her. Ironically, I was diagnosed at the same hospital she was born at. I want wanted to let y’all know my prayers are with everyone who has been touched by her.

  47. Angela Hanson

This was my 9th and final year as a camper at camp sweeney and when I was in leonard in 09, Lexie was one of my CITs. We found out about her passing the second Sunday of 1st session and my heart broke a little bit. I didn’t know Lexie very well and I didn’t keep up with her throughout the years but she does hold a very special place in my heart. That year when she was CITing in my cabin, I was going through a very hard time with some family issues. I was crying by myself on my bunk during cabin time one afternoon adn Lexie came over to me and made me feel just about a million times better. She listened to me and loved me and that was completely what I needed in that moment. So what I am trying to say is thank you for raising such a wonderful daughter and I am so sorry for your loss. Her memory will always live on at Sweeney <3

    • That is such a nice thing to hear she loved camp Sweeney and all the campers there. She was a bright light to everyone and her goal was to touch one person in a way that shone a light and inspired them to be better she felt she was a success

  48. Tami & Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I pray that God will comfort you all and wrap his loving arms around you. God Bless.
