Lewis Walker Jr.

Lewis Walker Jr., 79, of Waco, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, at Lake Shore Funeral Home (Masks and Social Distancing is mandated)

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, at Lake Shore Funeral Home with The Rev. Alvin Taylor providing the eulogy and The Rev. Dee McNeil officiating. Limited seating will be available

Burial: Kimmonsville Cemetery in Bosqueville

Lewis Walker Jr., known by friends and family as “Jr. Walker”, was born July  27, 1941 in Waco to the union of Mamie and Lewis Walker Sr. He joined Greater Shiloh Church at an early age under the pastorage of Rev. Porter. He attended J. N. Jenkins Elementary School and in 1960, he graduated from Carver High School in Waco. Lewis was very athletic and exercised his talents as a mighty Carver High School Panther on both the basketball court and the football field from 1958-1960. From athletics, he turned his competitive spirit to his love of dominoes, playing frequently with his friends and co-workers. Lewis worked at Owens-Illinois Plant in Waco and retired after 25 years of service.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Yvette Rhea; sons, Larry Lynn and Derrick “Bobo” Glen Walker; two sisters, Leona and Dorothy; five brothers, Willie, Jessie, Alex, Weldon and Carl.

He is survived by four sisters, Ann Rector, Evelyn Patton and Joyce Cross and husband, Elroy all of Waco and Thelma Sands of San Antonio; grandsons, Derrick Ceasar and Stephen Ceasar both of Dallas; a host of nieces and nephews; and a devoted cousin, Alvin Farmer of Dallas.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Farmer, David Farmer, Eric Cross Sr., Rashaad Johnson Sr., Derryl Bethely and Darrell Richmond.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roy L. Williams, Cuewes Johnson, Shelby Joe Wilkinson, Robert Stanciel, Johnny Neal, Mexia Jackson, Roy McChristian, Charles Foster and Joe Will Fortson.

Place of Service: Lake Shore Funeral Home , 5201 Steinbeck Bend; Waco, TX 76708

Well you ran a good race Jr. You will always be a part of my life from teenage to present I will miss the dinner outings just being around you period you was the same Jr. all the time you always told me treat people the way you want to be treated and I will take that to heart I thank you for being a great friend and father figure my condolences to the Walker family for your loss may God bless the family!

Pop there is slot that people don’t understand I thank you for taking me and guiding me into manhood. Holding me accountable for my actions even when it was as simple as not making it home before 12 like you asked.. I remembered a time where you didn’t pull in till about 3am I had got in about 1am you knocked on the door. Me and Chris playin sleep and you said son what time you get in. We young so we play sleep. Daddy say now Michael you kno the rules son so come out there where you was at till 1am. Then went in his room. So I got up and went outside bout a hour later. Daddy come tap on the window of the caviar and tell me let that be a lesson he is always watching. Continue to watch over me pop.

Lewis was an all around good person.I remember him from Carver High School.He was a fixture at every school reunion.My sincere condolences to your family. You will be missed my friend.May you Rest In Peace . Marion Hamilton
