Leo Johnson

Leo G. Johnson, 95, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, March 9th at his residence.

Funeral services: 11AM Friday, March 13th at Lake Shore Funeral home Chapel with Dr. Craig Klempnauer officiating. Burial will follow with military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.

Leo was born November 4, 1919 in Waco to Earnest W. and Louise B. (Demmer) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was owner of Johnson Florist and also worked at Carter’s Nursery. Leo loved playing golf and going fishing. For many years, he wrote poetry, including several of his books were published. He was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church and Lake Waco Country Club.
He was preceded in death by first wife, Doris Johnson.

Survivors include wife of 31 years, Alma F. Johnson of Waco; daughters, Jeanine Sherman and husband Bob of Waco, and Barbara Kay Blust and husband Nick of Bonham; nephews, Wally Johnson and wife Teresa of Barstow, CA, and Joe Addison and wife Sylvia of Caldwell; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge a special thanks to the nurses and aides with Providence Hospice.
