Larry Green Online Obit

Laurence (Larry) Green, loving husband and devoted father and grandfather, passed away at his home on February 7, 2023, and went to his everlasting home with his Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 92.

Visitation: 6-8PM, Friday, February 10, 2023 at Lake Shore Funeral Home

Graveside Service: 1PM, Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Oakwood Cemetery

Larry was born in Rochester, NY to Florence and Arthur Green.  After serving in the Marine Corp for three years, he attended the University of NY, where he met the love of his life, Anna Straka.  Upon graduation in 1955, Ann and Larry married, and ventured across the country to reside several years in both Denver and Phoenix, while starting their family with twin sons, David and Kenneth in 1957. Larry began a long career in sales, where he leveraged his positive attitude, quick wit and gregarious personality. In 1960 they moved back to their home state to reside in Albany, New York for 8 years. It is there where they grew their family with a third son, Patrick. Larry joined Ray-O-Vac as Sales Manager, a job that moved him to Madison, Wisconsin in 1968, where he stayed until retirement in 1983. Larry’s adventurous spirit led to many pursuits and hobbies including snow skiing, water sports, collector vehicles, world travel and real estate investments. His keen interest in real estate led him to Waco, where he and Ann have enjoyed living for the past 38 years. For 30+ years, Ann and Larry spent summers in Ogdensburg, New York, creating abundant memories with family and friends at a camp on the Saint Lawrence River, affectionately referred to as “The River”. In Waco, Larry was a member of the Karem Shrine and served the community in various capacities including Meals on Wheels and providing transportation to the Shriners Hospital in Houston.  He spent many days with friends and family on his family farm just outside of Waco.

Larry was predeceased by two sons, Kenneth Green and David Green; as well as daughter-in-law, Christie, who are no doubt welcoming him to a heavenly reunion.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Anna Green; sister-in-law, Marion Blake; son, Patrick (Julie) Green; and daughter-in-law, Jody Green; grandchildren, Sarah (Nathan) Hardage, Kendra (Brian) Fulton, Jacob Green, David (Kaylee) Green, Emily Green, Eric Drenckpohl (Sai Sivakumar), Aaron Green, and Brad Drenckpohl; two great grandsons, Eli and Luke Hardage.  We will all miss his zest for life, sacrificial love, engaging sense of humor and most generous spirit.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to Parkview Baptist Church (1100 E. Lakeshore Drive).
