Larry Wayne Burkett, 63, of Waco, formerly of Haskell, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at a Waco hospital. No services are planned at this time. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

Larry was born October 24, 1948 in Haskell to Archie Leonard Burkett and Margie Langford. He moved to Waco at an early age. He graduated from Connally High School in 1967 where he participated in track and football. He served with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, serving two tours of duty and received the Purple Heart Medal of Valor. Larry spent the latter part of his life enjoying his grandson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Burkett; and grandparents, Clint and Ruby Langford, and George and Bessie Burkett.

Survivors include son, Jerry Burkett and wife Kim, along with their son, Jackson of Keller; mother, Margie Caldwell of China Spring; sisters, Linda Self and husband Dan of Keller, and Tracy Pankionen of China Spring; brother, Gary Burkett of Nashville, TN; and numerous other relatives.

I have known Larry for so many years,and missed him he was a good friend to me ( I dated Johnny Curry).I have his first grade picture in my wallet .I saved for him ,he gave it to me when he was married to his first wife said she would not keep it ,I was hoping to give it back too him some day . Rest in peace with the Lord Larry I have thought about you so often and what ever had happened to you, and peace to your family you are in perfection now.
