Karolyn Gay Burroughs, 74, of Marquez, passed away Thursday, March 6th at a Waco care center. Family graveside services will be 11AM Thursday, March 13th at Sanders Cemetery in Magnolia. Karolyn was born August 26, 1939 in Houston to Jim and Jewel (Yelverton) Burroughs. She was raised in Spring-Klein and graduated from Klein High School in 1957. She graduated from Texas Women’s University in 1960. She worked as a police officer with the Houston Police Department, retiring in 1980 with 20 years of service. In later years, she was self employed as a farmer and rancher.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, James and Shirley Burroughs of Waco; niece, Janna Gardner of Dallas; nephews, Kyle Burroughs of Fort Worth, and Judson Burroughs of Waco.

Pallbearers are Judson Burroughs, Taylor Burroughs, Carter Gardner, Trent Gardner, Jared O’Neal and Ryan O’Neal.
