Karen Sue Cox, 76, of Waco, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18th at her residence.

Visitation: 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, August 21st at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.
Mrs Cox will lie in state on Monday from 8am to 5pm.

Funeral services: 2pm Tuesday, August 23rd at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with her son, Rodney Cox officiating.

Burial: China Spring Cemetery.

Karen was born March 5, 1940 in Harris County to Robert Louis and Grace Bell (Plumlee) Schultz. She married Harvey Cox on May 31, 1958. Karen had a long career with Central Freight Lines, retiring with 38 years of service. She was very supportive of Harvey’s life-long Drag and Stock-car racing career. The Heart of Texas Speedway was their home every Friday night for decades. She was a faithful member of Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Harvey Wendell Cox, Jr.

Survivors include husband of 58 years, Harvey Wendell Cox, Sr.; son, Rodney Cox and wife Beth of Scottsdale, AZ; granddaughters, Ashley Martin and husband Trey of Bryan, and Amy Shahparast and husband Jeremiah of Clyde, NC; great-granddaughter, Arrow Wynn Shahparast; sister, Clydell Hadick and husband Leo of Houston; and numerous other close relatives.
