Joyce Pyne

Joyce Pyne

Joyce Pyne, 94, of Waco, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord, with loved ones by her side. She was born in Belmont, Michigan. After a difficult period in the 1960s, Joyce found Jesus. As she said, “He saved my life at 40 years old and set me on a road to travel with Him.” She graduated from Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas and went into the ministry in Temple, managing Treehouse (a women’s residential-based treatment center) and then Angel House (a home for unwed mothers). After moving to Waco, she worked at Miracle Ear and volunteered to provide spiritual counseling at CareNet for about 20 years. As Joyce said, “At CareNet I came to realize my calling & anointing – that it’s been my life of rewards.” She also said, “I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior and that whosoever believeth in him shall have life everlasting. I have loved my life, family, and friends, but I am not afraid of what awaits me when the Lord takes me home. My life has been rich and full. Rejoice with me!”

She was predeceased in death by her mother, Iva Souffrou; father, Paul Souffrou; husband, George Pyne; son, Jeffrey Pyne; and sister, Dorothy Alcumbrack.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Kathleen Pyne (Dr. Paul Johnson); grandson, Nicholas Johnson, and daughter Dr. Nanette Pyne; her Owen family – Homer and Ruby Owen, Mark and Andrea Owen, John Owen, Dr. Julianne Owen Case (Dylan Case), Kristen Owen-Gozo (Sam Gozo), and Lauren Owen Brazda (Jayden Brazda); her brothers, Fred Souffrou (Jan) and Larry Souffrou (Carol); several nieces and nephews; and her special friends Gail Blanpied, the Teresa Yarborough family, and the Ron and Janet Madera family.

We are grateful to Belinda Meadors, who gave Joyce loving care, and to Samantha Luke, Director, and the staff at Brookdale Lake Brazos for the attention, love, and support they gave Joyce during her last year.

At Joyce’s request, there will be no funeral. A private memorial will take place in January 2023.

In lieu of flowers, you may make memorial donations to CareNet or the charity of your choice.
