Joe “Cheto” Garcia

Garcia

Joe “Cheto” Garcia, 50, of Waco, Texas, passed away peacefully in his wife’s arms on February 28, 2025, at a local hospital. He was born in Waco on May 8, 1974.

Celebration of Life: 6-8PM Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Brazos Meadows Baptist Church, located in Hewitt,  officiated by Pastors Joe Resendez and Irie Cuevas.

Joe grew up in Waco until his parents moved the family to Lorena, Texas, in 1986 when he was in junior high school. Known for his friendly personality, Joe made friends easily and earned a spot on the football team. He graduated from Lorena High School in 1992, placing in the top 10% of his class.

After high school, Joe began working at the Robinson Nursing Home. Over the years, he held various occupations, including mailman, DJ for parties, and owner of The Guardian Kennel, breeding German Shepherds for over ten years. He also worked as a car salesman at Chevy of West and most recently at Auto Nation in Waco.

In 2010, Joe married Genevieve, and together they created a beautiful, blended family. A true family man at heart, Joe devoted himself to supporting his loved ones and always looked forward to the next adventure. His pride in his family fueled his commitment to working hard to improve their lives.

In his free time, Joe loved fishin’ and enjoyed watching sports, particularly football, basketball, and baseball. He was a passionate fan of the Baylor Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks. With recent player trades, Joe often joked about possibly adding new teams to his roster of favorites.

Joe had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life; he never met a stranger. He embraced everyone, regardless of race, background, or political beliefs. Joe exemplified the notion that one’s past does not define one’s future. A devoted believer in Jesus Christ, Joe accepted Him as his Lord and Savior, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is healed in heaven today.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Michael R. and Delores Kimbro, along with other relatives who welcomed him into eternal life.

He leaves behind his wife, Genevieve; children, Jasmine Nikole Garcia, Elisa Marie Lozano-Vigil, Gabriel Luis Lozano-Vigil and fiancée, Ketra Murrow, and Ashley Michelle Garcia. Joe was also blessed with two grandchildren, Johnny Bless McMichael and Braxton Lee Toten, along with five bonus grandchildren from Ketra. He is also survived by his sister, Stacey Kimbro; brothers, Michael Kimbro and Justin Kimbro; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, first cousins, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their support, including meals, visits, texts, phone calls, encouragement, prayers, love, and fundraising during this challenging time. Your kindness has been greatly appreciated.
