Jimmy (Jim) Guest

Guest

Jim Guest of China Spring passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved children, Chance and Jo.

Born on February 22, 1948, in Mexia, Texas, Jim dedicated 25 years of his career to UPS, where he gained recognition as a remarkable package car driver. He retired in 1997 without a single speeding ticket or accident since he began driving at the age of 16, earning him the distinction of being the only driver in Texas to achieve this feat.

In addition to his career, Jim had a profound passion for lawn maintenance, focusing particularly on nursing homes. His outstanding work earned him two Keep Waco Beautiful Awards for Lake Air Mall and Lakeshore Village. Jim was also the creative force behind “Christmas in Waco,” orchestrating festive décor for Lake Air Mall, Richland Mall for 22 years, M&M Mars for 29 years, Scott & White Clinic, and numerous other businesses.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Jim served during the Vietnam War. Known for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and deep devotion to God, he was a true gentleman who cherished the land, demonstrated by his exceptional gardening and care for his animals.

Jim is preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Leslie; his parents, Helen and James Guest; his brother Kenny; and his twin sister, Jeri.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years; his daughter Jo; his son Chance; grandchildren Caitlin, Leah, Hannah, Gunner, and Drew; as well as great-grandchildren Casen and twins Noah and Aurora.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Compasses Hospice, especially Missy, Devon, and Rebecca, for their unwavering support and care. A special thank you goes to caregivers Ayanna, Salina, and Cookie, angels sent by God, whose compassionate presence brought comfort to Jim during his time at home.
