I grew up in East Waco with Sammy and Jerry when they lived at the East Terrace ( 2nd oldest house in Waco) and I have many memories and stories of spending nights at the East Terrace —my brother Joe was in Sammy class and Jerry and I was in the same class also Derwin was in my brother Tommys class. We spent a many nights and days
going to the river —fishing and running trot lines ——-hunting and camping at the Blue Hole on the Brazos river.
Through the years after school we all went our separate ways as life often dictates. I last saw Jerry at Sammy`s funeral in Dallas.
I left Waco after returning home from active duty with the Marine Corps and I have lived in Dallas now for the past 52 years. I have always felt that the Wilkins were like a second family even though we all went our separate way.
I know what a fine person Jerry was and I know he will be missed .
May the good lord Jesus bring peace to his loved ones and may Jerry rest in peace——— safely home with his loved ones who have gone before him.

I met Jerry in about 1963 while dating his good friend, Ronny Page. I remember when he and Mary met. She was going to beauty school. The four of us spent many Friday nights playing Wahoo and other board games. Ronny and I married as did Jerry and Mary. Over the years while raising children, our lives allowed us to drift apart. Ronny has also gone to be with the Lord. I am sure they are telling tales, laughing and reminiscing. I always thought Jerry to be a super sweet guy and when he and Mary got married you just knew it would last and it did. My prayers and condolences to Mary and the entire family.

I grew up with the Wilkens family, spent many a night there. Was best friends with Calvin, Larry, and Gregory. Grew up around Derwin, Sammy and Jerry. We all fished together a lot on that Brazos. Anybody that knew Jerry Dean respected him. Was a great family man. I remember when he married Mary, he loved her so much. Guess he didnt want to be here without her. Prayers go out to all of the Wilkens family that the lord will give them strength to endure their loss. Growing up we called Jerry Dean, ” Wee”. Rest in Peace brother.

So sorry to hear of Jerry’s death. I think Jerry and I started to work about the same time at “TV Cable” as it was called in 1968-69. We worked together for the 7 years I was there, in the Engineering Dept. I was the Dispatcher/Routing Clerk. I remember Jerry as being very quiet and shy but was a great worker and good friend. Remember some fun parties as his and Mary’s home. They were a sweet couple who seemed like they were just “made for each other.” My prayers go out to the Wilkens’ family.
