Jerry David Hoffman

Jerry Hoffman passed away on March 21, 2019 while surrounded by his family. He was 77 years young.

Memorial Service: 11 AM, Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Lake Shore Funeral Home in Waco.

Jerry David Hoffman was born June 25, 1941 in Bosqueville, Texas and was preceded in death by his father, Benny W. Hoffman; mother, Minnie Mae Hoffman; as well as his brothers, Hilton, Donald, Eugene, Garland, and Benny.

Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to everyone. His tenacity, wit and charm enabled him through life. His passion was family, fishing, cooking and casinos; however, family always came first. He had a deep love for his family and cherished the time they would spend together, enjoying family dinners and holidays. Jerry was the first to offer help for household projects and would be willing to give the last dollar in his pocket to help another out. He was a man who never cared much about himself and who even in his final days would say to his loved ones, “take care of Patsy when I’m gone”. Jerry was a strong, proud, great man who never met a stranger and his presence in our life will be sorely missed.

Jerry’s work ethic was not to be matched. He had a rare combination of someone who had a love of life, as well as a firm understanding of what was important.  He worked as a butcher, warehouse manager, as well as was a restaurant owner.  Jerry served the best food you have ever tasted. He mastered the art of chicken fried steak; if you never had the opportunity of tasting his famous chicken fried steak, you greatly missed out.

We all live on borrowed time. People come and go so unexpectedly, we sometimes forget that nothing really last as long as we hoped they would. Losing someone dear to us can be a heart breaking experience, but it’s something we must accept in order to continue with our lives.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Patsy Hoffman and his children, Charles, Misty, Randy and Terry Windham. Jerry’s surviving sisters are Jeanene, Fran, Glenda, and Cindy, as well as his brothers, Robert, Larry, and Dwayne, in addition to his brother in-law, Donald and sisters-in-law, Barbara, Sherrie and Betty. Jerry’s grandchildren, whom will miss him greatly, are Lindsey, Ashley, Lauren, Kristie, Dustin, Blake, Macie, Ava, Taylor, Killian and Kirkland. Jerry was also fortunate to have several great-grandchildren, Alanina Wilson, Zoey Harkins, Kaedynce and Kamdyn Zacharias. Moreover, Jerry was surrounded by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other loved ones, whom loved him greatly.

When you think of Jerry, celebrate the good memories you have of him. Remember, life is fragile, short and should be lived to the fullest.
